Most people don't know how to properly wash a knife either, so regardless of brand, when they are sharp they get cut. Always wash from the spine towards the edge, never the other way. That way you reduce the chance of getting cut and you won't dull the blade as bad from numerous washings.

Stamped stainless blades are going in the dishwasher.

A knife is only as good as your maintenance and sharpening of it.

I can keep a Dollar Tree knife sharper than most people's Wusthof knives.

There's plenty of YouTube videos of people sharpening $1 knives up to effortlessly slice paper etc etc.

But ain't nobody got time for how often you'd have to resharpen that.

Good product great warranty. Expensive. I used to sell them. My dad still loves them and he’s a chef

There was a college aged kid that we knew selling the knives. We let him come do the sales pitch as a favor. He said it was "no pressure" and would only take a few minutes. That was the first of several exaggerations.

5 minutes in I knew this going to be painful. His sales pitch was polished for someone so young. He was coached well. I knew that the knives were over priced and we would not purchase any, but he would not take no for an answer. He kept giving the sales pitch.

He had to demonstrate how great the knives were and even used one of our current knives in comparison.
We kept saying no. He then had to call his boss and explain to him how we were not interested, blah blah..

When he hung with the his boss, I explained that our time was done and he had to leave. The sales guys demeanor went from friendly to less than.

I guess he thought that if he just kept pushing that we would purchase.

We would never have anyone give the sales pitch again.

I love the filet knife.... on my 2nd one. The first one went overboard on a snapper trip.

You made it about 3-1/2 more than I did.

When they got to the part about having to buy the set you'd demo, I walked out. "So, let me get this straight...you want me to go out and cold call every relative, friend and acquaintance I know...to sell them a Cutco knife set...but first, you're gonna sell ME a set? Do you think I'd be here if I had that money? Y'all need to lay down until the drugs wear off..."

I don't recall how much it was, but I could swear it being around $300. And that's at least 30 years ago.

I have a few, but I've never purchased one new. They are okay knives, but I don't think they are worth the price at all.

Dull knives are a lot scarier than sharp ones.

I sharpen knives for people on a Tormec and a lot of them say the same thing, "I'm going to cut myself...." I have given people a cheap knife that I've sharpened and honed and told them to use it for a while. Most of them bring their good kitchen knives back for me to sharpen.

I do give them a bandaid the first time, though.

I got two of the 9 or 10” serrated knives at the thrift store store for 2.99 a piece. Great tomato and bread slicers.

I've got a set of Henkel's and I've gone through a couple of Wusthof knives over the years. I bought a set of Cutco about 10 yrs ago and I've never used another knife, neither has the Mrs.

The serated knives are great, I've never owned better steak knives, and the chef & bread knives are very good. I'll never use another brand of filet knife as long as I live. They stand by the warranty and you can send them back for a factory sharpening at no charge, usually they just send you a brand new knife.

A sharp knife is much safer than a dull knife.

I will let you know if they are quality in a few weeks...

Two weeks ago I sat thru my first cutco presentation. I had known about them for a while but it was my first presentation. It was of course the college age kid from across the street trying to make money for this years classes.

He went hard on trying to sell a full set of knifes. He got kinda disappointed when I told him I already own a bunch of Wusthoff so I wasnt buying a full set.

I did however see three knifes that got my attention. A spreader burger knife, a long butcher knife, and a boning knife. The three will fill holes on my wustfoff collection. The Cutco should be here soon and I helped out a neighbors kid.

All in all, I think they are a quality product but the sales process is silly as heck. Can you just order the knives without having to use one of the college age reps?

Knives are good and yeah the warranty is legit too. Just get a bad rep because of the business design.
