Pretty cool story. First dude apparently walked behind the counter without asking and just started working.

Sounds like a health code violation. Shut it down.

Oh wait.

Nice story. I’m a Waffle House fan and think about those people working to scratch out a living. That’s a tough gig.

My biggest tip % is always Waffle House and it’s not even close. And I rarely tip less than 20%.

There are a lot of absent owners that open up franchises without putting in the time to make sure they are run correctly. I always feel sorry for the poor employees that are trying to do a good job despite being under staffed or staffed with incompetence. I’ve been to restaurants in similar situations and had the thought cross my mind to start helping. Everyone should work in a restaurant once when they are young. You see the good and bad among all demographics and learn to be more appreciative to the poor guy serving you food for low wages.

about 6 years ago wife and I pulled into a roadhouse in a very small town in furthest northwest Montana. town was two road houses and three cabins. we ordered burgers and beer. shortly after a large group of bikers showed up for the same, there was only one person doing everything so I asked if I could manage the bar for them. the next three hours I got to tend bar for bikers and cross off another item on the bucket list

I've wanted to go do that on the grill in some steakhouses. Hate when they overcook shite.

I stopped in the one in Walker one day and heard the young waitress asking the older white waitress if she could cover for her because school called and her kid was sick and she had to take him to the doctor then pick up her other son. Man, two kids and a Waffle House waitress job. That’s tough right there.

Not tough, Waffle House provides full benefits. And the person covering the shift made bank.

Two kids and a Waffle House job isn't tough. That's the salt of the earth.

Where would that young lady be without the Waffle House right now?

This is so wholesome. Usually non employees hop over the counter to beat the waffle house employee's arse

The benefits are a good package but they still make less than minimum wage and depend on tips. Family of three that’s still tough. But yes she’s working and I agree it is salt of the earth. Which is why I don’t mind tipping generously because as much as I go there I can only remember a couple times that were not satisfactory.
