Customer dispute. What to do when a business won't return your calls and/or e-mails?

Out of respect for the business (even though they have shown us none), I won't mention any names.
Short story. A charge was auto-debited from our account without our permission. It was substantial enough for me to notice and worth my time to look into. This was an error on their part, or at least we believe it to be.
We have called numerous times and have e-mailed them as well. No response. This is over a 2.5 week period.
At what point do you lose your patience with attempting to reconcile the charge privately and go public?

Contact your bank/card company, unless said place of business is your bank

Local? Or national with no live people on the other end?

Today is that day.
Why not just dispute the charge with your card company?

Tie a note to a rock, toss it through their window. They'll get the message then.

I asked my wife if they value her business, because it appears to me that they don't.

Dispute the charge with your bank. The phrase "unauthorized transaction" usually gets their attention.

Kick the door down and refuse to leave till it's resolved.

The charge is from our checking account. I'll contact my bank as another poster mentioned.
Might be my only option at this time.

So they stole money and won't respond? Call them out. And contact your bank.

Sounds like this is what is needed. As you can tell, I have never had to dispute a charge with my bank account. Credit cards, yes .. but never on my checking account.
Off to login to my bank.

Is this is a credit card or debit card charge? Just contact Mastercard or Visa or whomever and let them take care of it.

They are a legitimate business, so I don't want to say they "stole" it. But not responding makes whatever argument they have for not responding look weak.
The initial charge was for a one-time charge only. Unfortunately, three months later, they charged our account again ... without our permission.
I'm sure it is a "clerical" error, however it is shady shite when you don't respond. Acknowledge the problem. Admit that you made a mistake. Own it. And fix it.
Providing customer service shouldn't be that hard.

Option 1: Call your Bank
Option 2: Have your lawyer send them an letter certified mail
Option 3: Post the name of the business and let the OT handle it.

Send your wife to make a personal visit. I'm sure she knows how to resolve problems.

If it's local, then why haven't you shown up in person yet? Go over there and speak with someone. Don't leave without your money.

I had this happen with a company that basically lied to me about the services they would provide. They gave me stuff I explicitly told them I didn't want and when I told them to stop I got the run around because it was apparently an operation where they constantly burn and churn customers. I called the credit card company and had the payment refunded and future billing stopped. It sounds like you've given them more than enough opportunity. Don't bother going public with this unless you think they are doing people wrong intentionally and want others to know. Just get your credit card company to reverse the charges and move on.

The time is now to out the company. 2.5 weeks and multiple attempts to get an answer is long enough. Chances are another OT'er has had a run in with them as well.
Oh and call the bank and refute the charge.
