I hope the MLB umpires got paid.
They had also purchased the naming rights to the Miami Heat's arena:

FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried got a thumbs up from Miami Mayor Francis Suarez during a joint appearance last year when an interviewer asked the 29-year-old mogul if a crypto company approaching a $25 billion valuation really had the financial staying power to fund the full 19 years on its $130 million sponsorship deal for the city’s basketball arena.
“It’s been a pretty good year for us, to the point that, frankly, we don’t need to rely on the other 18 years to have the funds for this,” Bankman-Fried said during the May 7 event at the 2021 Ethereal Virtual Summit. Bankman-Fried described a “phenomenal year” for the crypto industry “and us, in particular.”
Now Miami-Dade County administrators doubt FTX can afford its next $5.5 million payment on the arena, much less the remaining $100 million on a deal that Bankman-Fried brushed aside as a minor expense in his appearance with Suarez.
“I hope the next time we have someone who wants to put their name on the arena, we have a better vetting process,” said Miami-Dade Commissioner René Garcia, who cast the only vote against the FTX deal when it came up for a board vote on March 26, 2021.
Miami’s star turn in the crypto boom now has an iconic bust: the Heat’s FTX Arena

Yeah but if he lost money for a lot of highly placed Dems they will take him down and say they are hard on corporate corruption

They won’t completely frick over one of their largest donors. I doubt a lot of well connected democrats were invested in shitcoins. The democrat voters got fricked but that’s irrelevant.
They will make it look like he is getting the book thrown at him but he isn’t going to federal pound you in the arse prison. He will have a cush prison set up with pickle ball and catered meals for a few years then “house arrest” for a few.

Tom Brady and Giselle apparently not only publicly endorsed FTX, but had a lot invested with them, too, which is leading to jokes...
- that's why Brady came out of retirement.
- that's why Giselle left him.
- now Brady's gonna have to play till he's 50.

Can't be said any better than this....
And, apparently some of the diverted ftx funds were invested in crypto hedge funds (through an entity he controlled). Said hedge fund was given notice and priority to withdraw funds before suspension
They ALL need to go to jail.

I mean everyone wanted unregulated markets. This is what happens, did he break any laws. People willing gave him money with zero laws in place to protect them

good article explaining a corporate hit
Ehhh...that is a bad article that lets Sam and FTX off the hook and tries to blame CZ and Binance a bit too much. There's quite a bit more to it and the biggest issue is the misuse of customers funds which is solely on FTX

Very well explained.
DeFi takes the middleman out.. Code is law, the smart contracts are open source and immutable, and all reserves are verifiable by anyone anywhere.
You go to Uniswap and exchange ETH for USDC? That is done through a 'liquidity pool'. People put up pairs of tokens (in this case, USDC/ETH). The pool has a swap fee and that fee is dispersed proportionally among all liquidity providers, earning them a legit, non-ponzi yield.
