I get a little sad but I don’t think I ever cried over the death of someone that wasn’t a friend or family

think those people are just becoming more aware of their own mortality in that moment. That celebrity likely was involved in something they enjoyed greatly when they were younger at a more simple time in their life.

I agree. I won’t cry over a celebrity but there are a few that ill feel sad when they’re gone. Clint Eastwood for example just because he is one of the last of a dying breed that we won’t see in Hollywood ever again

I get being bummed about certain famous deaths. I got really bummed out when Jimi Hendrix died. I was bummed when Reagan died. I mean really bummed! But did I cry? frick NO! I didn’t know them personally.

Getting bummed and crying are all on the same continuum of being sad.

You hypocrite.

I shed a tear over Rich Mullins when he died in the 90s...his music at the time meant a great deal to me. He was in the prime of his life and died horrifically in a car crash.

I've been "bummed" over Prince, Petty, etc.

Are you sure you don’t need help for caring this much about how others feel?

Exactly. The hypocrisy is funny.

You were never in a personal relationship with them.

Many musicians have touched people's souls & provided billions the soundtrack of their lives. (ex: a song that was playing during one's first kiss/date/marriage, memories of a deceased loved one's favorite song/performer/band, melodies or rhythms that dictate/fit someone's mood daily, lyrics that expressly convey one's thoughts/philosopy etc.)

It's pretty personal. Sometimes the bond with a musician's catalogue is more intimate than actual relationships.

I love how the OP tells everyone to get a grip and seek help yet he explains how bummed he was when Jimi Hendrix died. Yeah you don't sound like a hypocrite at all here.

Not sure what makes you the thoughts and feeling police either. Let people grieve how they want to grieve to make themselves feel better. What makes you the Lord Almighty when it comes to this?

Also there's a few celebrity deaths that bummed me out big time and not afraid to say it. Chester Bennington is one. Ever since middle school I didn't go one day without listening to several songs from him and Linkin Park. Their music got me through some of the roughest moments of my life. Him taking his life shows how immortal we all are. Same with Chris Cornell.

Alex Trebek is another. I wasn't the biggest Jeopardy fan, but my parent's loved it. Almost every day my parents, 3 siblings, and I would watch it at 6:00. Just sit, watch, and relax. Reminded me of the simple times hanging with my family so him dying to me sucked.

Kobe is another one. Basketball was my favorite sport up until high school, and even though I hated the Lakers, I loved the way he played and worked. It inspires me to work just as hard he does with anything in life.

I’ll never cry over the death of a celebrity, but I do tear up over the death of people I don’t know. Most recently, for those kids in New Orleans who died in the fire their Dad started.

I don't know about all this crying business, but you being so wrapped up in it definitely screams of some kind of issues. That's the thing with mental illness, there are many flavors of it. You may have one of them.

90% of the Friends fanbase is overly-emotional bitchy yuppie women, so this doesn't surprise me the slightest. That show portrayed the male characters as a bunch of dumb witty simps who kept chasing their girlfriends for sex, and the female characters were portrayed as successful, independent women who babied their boyfriends.

It was the first woke show to come out in a time when wokeness never existed in media
