I got really bummed out when Jimi Hendrix died. I was bummed when Reagan died. I mean really bummed! But did I cry? frick NO! I didn’t know them personally.
You do realize you're contradicting yourself, right?
You just admitted you were really affected over these people passing whom you did not know. Well, it just so happens that for many people when they are bummed, I mean really bummed! They cry. Just because you choose to express your emotions differently than others do don't mean anything. You aren't special.

Oh no, people get emotional because a particular actor who provided them with years and years of laughs and memories died! The horror at this notion.
I've seen a ton of outpouring for Perry, but no one inconsolable like a family member died. You just sound upset that the post was originally stickied.

There are celebrity deaths that suck and I get feeling a sense of momentary depression and loss because they actually did contribute in a way that made your life more enjoyable……but to act like a loved one in your life died is truly bizarre.

Called a friend after Howard Cosell announced on Monday Night Football that Lennon had been shot and killed.
I called a friend and asked: “Hey, did you hear Lennon got shot?”
His immediate response was: “Yeah, we’ll his music was getting so bad something had to be done.”

A agree with the OP. You can be shocked or surprise by a death but some people just overdo it. People will sometime post a RIP with a sad or crying emoticon. It’s like people have to display that they’re a good person by doing it. The thing is that no one knows these celebrities personally. All you know of them is their craft(an actor, musician, athlete).

Does anyone other than 12 year old girls do this?
I was only about 5 when it happened, but I remember my mom and a couple of aunts having a hard time when Elvis died.
That is actually one of my earliest memories. My mom was watching one of her stories on TV around 1:30 in the afternoon when the national news interrupted and reported it.

The only thing more annoying than people who cry over a celebrity's death is someone who bitches about people who cry over a celebrity's death.

I never met Jimmy Buffett but when his death was announced I was sad that we lost a performer I enjoyed watching perform.

A lot of people in this thread trying to look like tough, hard guys.
When you get right down to it, it’s about as OT of a thread as the OT gets.

You are just making shut up. No way are you old enough to give a shite about Lennon in 1980.
You post like you are 12.

I weeped when Lindsay Lohan died.

Meh, they aren't really crying over the celebrity as much as they are crying over the characters they played and how it impacted their life. For most people, Chandler died not Perry.
In a weird way, I associate Hank Hill with my dad. When the show ended, it kind of hit hard. That's a cartoon character, so I can see why actual actors have this affect.
