If tay passes I’ll just be so absolutely devastated especially now that she’s dating some football jock and you know how they treat their women. And that’s not even considering the cte! I hope she doesn’t have a bowflex machine!

I agree with you. I mean, it's okay to feel a bit sad about it for a day or two if it was someone that really entertained you. But crying over it? Yeah, that's weird to me. Lord knows they wouldn't be crying if you keeled over.

Maybe they are actually crying for themselves and the sudden blunt message this sends that time is passing and they're old.

quote:

You did not know this person personally. You have zero idea what they are like as a person. You were never in a personal relationship with them. They weren’t family, they weren’t even a friend
They knew his character on the show. Apparently people loved the show and saw themselves as the 5th friend.

What is your commentary about people who cry or become emotional at movies?? I mean it's a story. Of fiction or usually involving people you don't know if based on events. Is it different than creating a person you want a celebrity to be and feeling loss at death? We invest in things emotionally. It's called humanity. I pull for a team I've invested in. If I die tonite no one on that team will morn. Allen hall won't crumble. The campanile never knew I existed. Yet we care. I'd rather be like me than you. Ps I hate losing musicians.

It’s THAT big a part of their past? Really? To break down and cry over?

As I said, get help. Your sense of reality is greatly compromised. You’ll be hearing voices soon and then be pissed that nobody else hears them.

Now that right there is classic mental illness. They also lay in their bed at night and makeout with their arm pretending it’s one of the other characters.

Let me tell you something, if you are a person that does this…..get help. Trust me when I tell you, there is something wrong with you.

This advice would be better suited for someone who worries about or otherwise gets annoyed at what saddens other individuals.

He struggled for most of his life with addiction to drugs and alcohol, and wrote about it in detail in his book

My sister has also struggled, and after reading his book, made a significant change in all the right ways with her life

So yes, she cried when he died because she was grateful for everything that he made her Realize about life being precious

Agree 100%

I remember my grandmother saying she cried over Elvis and JFK. She was the toughest woman I’ve ever known and to hear her say that was pretty wild at the time.

Highly sensitive people are no more susceptible to mental disorders than a narcissist or sociopath.

Obviously, the middle ground is great. Being able to establish boundaries, stay focused and undeterred in times and moments of stress, chaos or distress BUT also being empathetic, sympathetic, being comfortable and not scared enough to process different emotions whole continually monitoring how those emotions manifest themselves is a great blueprint.

First time I cried in a movie is when Apollo Creed died.

Just crushed me as a kid.

There are always exceptions. Your sister had a personal (though not in-person) connection outside of his television character. I think the OP is referring to people who enjoy a particular show but lose their shite when a cast member dies for no good particular reason

I didn’t cry, but was in a haze after Kobe’s death. Just brought more meaning to being human. Regardless if you’re Superman, your life can end at any time and you truly have no control over that. Kobe’s death made me be a better person moving forward.

RIP GOAT!

I think the larger point you are trying to make is that society places to much importance on 'celebrities'. Actors/actresses get paid to dress up and pretend. Read about Peter Sellers. In his last interview Sellers stated that he really did not know who he was because of so many roles he played.
I never saw an episode of Friends, Seinfield, or Rosanne and I don't feel any loss because of that.I've never heard a Trailer Swift song but I know Black Oak Arkansas with Ruby Starr (boy she could sing). We place too much importance on these people, its make believe.
