Covid has obviously made it harder for the crawfishers to catch crawfish.

Well considering the weather we’ve had for the past two weeks does this surprise you?

Can’t wait for the well thought out incoming usual comments from the OT now. LOL

Our pond catch was like 3# on hundreds of traps ... the cold weather was a killer. It'll bounce back and prices will come down.

I got it

Every year it’s something different that makes it harder and the price increases.

90% of the people eating crawfish right now are doing it solely to post on social media to try and look cool that they are already eating crawfish.

This early in the season prices are high and crawfish are small, but hey you made Tammy from da bayou jealous.

Does this really impress people from southern Louisiana?
I always laugh when I see people post crawfish on IG.

Yes.

But thankfully not as much here, which is why I like this place.

You joke but do you have any idea how much these farmers are spending on the little crawfish masks alone?

Next year it'll be as high as in 34 years.

Rinse and repeat.

Crawfish are people too! They know Hurricanes and cold weather when they feel it. Warmer weather soon will bring them out and prices will drop. My dad and brother are catching 2-3 sacks where they usually catch 12-15 sacks but they are still going out for $4 a pound live prices. And to keep an eye on those dang otters.

You forgot the winds!

Wind has come from the N, S, E, and W, so prices are climbing.

Oh, there's also been small periods of time with no wind at all ... another markup.

Then there's been high winds, low winds, just a breeze, gusty winds ... another markup.
