And that's great. Fully support.

This is me. I love raffles. I've won several. It's like Christmas morning.

Fundraisers were getting out of hand at my workplace and when they started overlapping and the complaints followed, it was to no ones surprise when the memo came out putting a stop to it.
I supported the memo when it got out of hand, keep that crap away from work.

My mode of operation for this is.....
I'll get on a football but only if you giving out over half the money. I'm not paying $25 for a square to win $125 a quarter and you collect $2000 and only payout $500.
Raffles, half a side a beef, cash, gift cards, lottery tickets I'll buy. Not interested in an ice chest of shitty Crown Royal or gift baskets and massages.
Plate lunches, I give you the money for it and you can keep it. I don't need a plate of cold fried fish and shitty jambalaya with hard white beans.

I never give any of them money for any of it. If i gave everyone money for every cause that's it's solicited of me I'd be piss broke.

Not as bad as them talking about the games. Only thing worse is fantasy football discussions.

Sorry you’re poor
I would think the poors are the ones asking others to pay for their kids sports

It's like United Way donations at work. One of my old bosses gave me a $1 so I would donate $1 through work to get our numbers to 100%. Or I donate $1 to Gun Owners of America or something.

No it’s not much different but should it be grandparents selling it??
This is 100 percent it.
I will always support kids doing a car wash or kids walking around the neighborhood selling chocolate or whatever.
It’s the adults asking for money on behalf of the kids that annoys me.
Make little Johnny or Julie call people or sell things. They can handle it.

If Traylinn and Bradlie are Girl Scouts I’ll buy every box of thin mints and do si dos they can deliver weekly. No questions asked.

The things you're describing don't sound dissimilar to the fundraisers we did as kids
It's probably just that the people suck more now and don't have as much grace/sense of propriety in determining who to ask, how often, etc.
I think two more factors are:
1. The frequency of the fundraisers seems way higher than when we were kids.
2. Kids actually did the vast majority of the actual fundraising back then, not the parents.

This. I get a little angry when coworkers don’t ask me to buy shite and then I see it. I want to contribute.

I remember selling Christmas candles every year for the school band, but never asked any relatives to do it for me

I don’t want candles. A box of cookies or candy bars, yes. I’ll give them to my employees and look like a hero.

Convince me that your kids’ travel baseball team isn’t a for-profit operation For a couple of guys, and maybe I’ll consider donating….

I’m with you, baw. Not the a-hole.
Problem is, lots of people these days are entitled POS that fail to grasp the idea that you aren’t obligated to fund their kids’ extracurriculars. And they will all think you’re an a-hole.
Only question is if you choose to care or not.

Are they actually “begging” or just reaching out to friends, family and co-workers and asking if they’d like to buy a square, etc. ?
Everyone with a kid involved in something does this, and usually supports other families whose kids are also involved in stuff.
Keeps the kids involved in productive time-consuming activities and off the video games.
Don’t want to participate, just politely decline.

Not strictly illegal, but it is frowned upon if you are over 40.
