Can't stand when they ask us as parents to go ask others for money.
No one on our team goes asking for money and just pays it themselves. We've complained about it enough that we got them to stop doing the stupid raffle and football squares crap and just add the necessary money to the annual fee to play.

Buddy of mine tried asking a bunch of us in a group text for some raffle crap for his 7 year olds baseball team and he got blasted by everyone.
I already have to pay for all my kids shite, why the frick am i going to help you pay for your kid to play too? You want me to buy him a new fricking bat for christmas too?

Thanks guys.
You're not totally off base in that it's the grandparent, not the kid that's "doing the work" in fundraising. A fundamental piece of a kids sports team fundraiser should be the kids themselves learning and understanding the work it takes to earn money, and the value in providing a good or service.

In the end though it really isn't that deep. Throw a few bucks if you like the coworker, shrug and say you forgot cash if you dislike them

I usually buy the discount cards from kids playing for the local high schools.

I've also bought raffle ticket type stuff for travel ball kids that are going to Cooperstown, but not any other bullshite tournament.

We sold donuts, oranges, Scout Show tickets and a bunch of other stuff I have probably forgotten

My dad wouldn't let us do that since "anyone in their right mind could just go to the store and get the same shite for 1/3rd the price". We would wash cars, cut grass, pull weeds... Anything to get our asses out of the house and prove that we really wanted whatever we were raising money for.

Give a mouse a cookie. Give them a few bucks for this fundraiser project, they will hit you up for every other one after that

Doesn't work with this new age of coworker beggar. They'll either say Hey Friday is payday so just pay me then for Jaxton's raffles or venmo/cash app me. Absolutely no boundaries or shame for that matter.

My daughter’s team held a raffle. I hated asking for money for it.

We also did a football betting board, had NO problem asking for that one for some reason.

I've yet to run into this myself fortunately, but that's the time to grow a spine and just say no thanks

It sucks, but as a father of four I have had to do it, hat in hand, countless times.

So I try to be sympathetic and support when I can.

Major pet peeve of mine. It’s your kids, their hobby. You pay for it! If parents can’t pay for the expenses related to the sport then don’t play them or curtail the participation to a scale that is affordable.

Could you simply say “no thank you im good” and move on? Or do we have to run to an internet message board for every slight inconvenience in this world?

If it’s not cookies or popcorn, I’m not participating. Need to have an ROI on these things.

Bring back the OG fresh Krispy Kreme donut sales, dammit!

And I'm not talking about this new style donut with the slimy icing. I want the original.

Depends on the co-worker. There are some I am willing to donate to but not others.

You know, where I'm from, we have these two words in our vocabulary for this very instance which you describe. Next time, instead of getting aggravated, just simply respond with a polite, yet firm, "No, thank you."

I just post a flyer in the breakroom whenever I'm asked and just give people the option to participate or ignore.

I hate asking anyone for money.
