Cowboy Kent’s way is the only way to clean cast iron

Been following Cowboy Kent (Oklahoma boy). Clean the skillet hot right after cooking. Wooden spatula, paper towel, hot water for the steam, salt if something’s stuck. Dry it on the burner then thin oil. Keeps it smooth as hell. Food just slides off.
Most of y’all just leave that black gunk building up forever like it’s some badge of honor. Looks like y’all never clean the damn thing. Tastes like last month’s grease every time.
Same deal with the food. Oklahoma cowboy cooking (dry rubs, real heat, meat that actually tastes like meat) runs circles around that Louisiana sauce obsession. Everything down there gets drowned in brown gravy or some thick roux mess like y’all are trying to hide the fact the meat ain’t that good.
Anybody else here cook with Cowboy Kent?

I like Cowboy Kent and often clean my cast iron his way. Other times, use the salt method. He has some good recipes too.

Some people literally never wash their's. They just wipe it out and call it good. Gross.

I was going to let things go until this bullshite quoted above. First of all you live in CA. So shut the frick up right there. Then you have the utter audacity to compare OK food to LA food? Are you kidding me?
I had grandparents from KS and OK. They can't cook shite and that's me talking about my grandmas cooking. Cheese hominy is considered elite cuisine up that way. They have no damn idea what salt and pepper is for and have never heard of hot sauce.
Finally, your complete and utter lack of knowledge around Creole and Cajun cooking shows with this "hide the fact the meat ain't that good" comment. LA cuisine is 100% based around cooking cheap cuts of meat because that is what the poor folk here had to work with. Numbskull.
FWIW, the cast iron cleaning technique is spot on. You should have stopped there.

I usually just squirt a little soap on there and scrub and rinse with hot water.

I use cast iron pots and skillets everyday. Some of them my grandmothers. I just wipe with a paper towel after a hot wet rag.
I also have an electrlolysis tank that I can restore pots to amazing condition.
Go look at the Lodge cast iron site. There is a wealth of information.
