Clean the skillet hot right after cooking. Wooden spatula, paper towel, hot water for the steam,

I was under the impression you never wanted to run water on a pan that's screaming hot from the stove or cooktop because the fast cooling can warp it.

ETA: My 80 year old mother is one of those "you never use soap on a cast iron skillet" people. I'm not even going to bother with trying to change her mind at this point

How do you have time to watch that, what with molesting kids and standing in the streets, fighting ICE?

Yes, because red state conservative women tend to be hot. Liberal state filth generally resemble purple haired wildebeest.

Not necessary to avoid dish soap with cast iron these days. Dish soap today is much more mild than in the past. It will not remove or harm the seasoning unless you really scrub. I give my cast iron a quick rinse, wipe with a soapy rag and then rinse and dry, followed by a minute or two on the burner to ensure it is fully dry before storing. No need to put any additional oil coating before storing on a well-seasoned pan. Just wash (with dish soap) and dry. Every couple of years I re-season. That's it.

I used chain mail and it works

Same. Chainmail under hot water, wipe clean, burn water off, light oil.
