I mentioned to one poster (who replied that he sort of felt the same) that I have zero ideation or intention to harm myself BUT a fatal car accident or death by heart attack might not be so bad.

Yesterday my spouse got home from work and asked how my day was ... I was able to say I got up, showered and brushed my teeth. My productiveness is nil other than what absolutely HAS to be done.

I think this is the main issue for me. I’ve had days and nights where I can get worked about about the political shite, but it’s the shutdown via the virus that has me feeling like I’m in a long, dark tunnel.

To clarify, I’m not staying up drinking until 4. I lay in bed around 1:30 or so. I’ll read, watch tv or YouTube.

Cancel culture and riots come and go. This is not the first time all this has happened and won't be the last. So I agree and think it's the virus stuff.

I've had trouble sleeping myself even though I don't spend much time on social media, including here, especially when I'm not at work. But like today, I'm on shift and will be on here more. I've noticed the last 3 months or so I have problems sleeping.

Overrated. Find a fulfilling hobby that works with your creative side. We are here to experience, not be machines to doing tasks.

Turn off the news and social media, buy a camera or learn an instrument, take short trips, get away from concrete, glass and steel and find nature.

Find a way to be of service to someone-do yard work for an elderly neighbor, cook a meal for a friend, teach a kid (or adult) how to play drums. You could even do that virtually. Being there for someone else can be a great antidote for depression.

I'm engaged to be married in October, and believe me when I say the road to get where I am in life has been nothing but rocky to say the least.

I had a rough childhood and had to work to live starting at 13, then worked my arse off to put myself through college and met an amazing, beautiful girl. I graduated, got a decent job, she moved in with me, we soon got engaged and things began to look up for me - until she was killed in a car accident.

That sent me on a spiral that took years to recover from. I finally dug myself out of that hole and got my life in order, got an amazing career and met my soulmate - the only woman on this earth that could've possibly been better for me than the first. God definitely had a plan for me.

We're engaged to be married in October now, and like you the current events weigh heavy on my mind. That's not to mention I'm also in federal law enforcement and things have never been harder for an officer that has to face the public on a daily basis.

I've made it a point to sink myself into my relationship with my fiancee as much as possible and really lean on her/us right now to find happiness, and I would suggest the same to you. Find the little things about her and your time together that are beautiful and make you the happiest, and invest in them heavily (emotionally, physically, mentally, whatever).

You never know when that relationship or that person can get ripped out from under you, never take it for granted. Take the time every day to enjoy her company and focus on her and only her, put everything else aside including the alcohol and current events; and you'll find happiness.

It’s the noise man. As others have said. Tune out the noise. Find a hobby, build a fire, build a small business. Build something.

If you can’t handle it, get off social media (especially TD), turn off cable news and use your free time to start exercising, eating right, some home improvement, and spending time with family.

I have 2 year old replay women's soccer on my TV right now and I have absolutely no confidence that I could find anything better to watch.

This. Just walk away from the internet and news. Do something far away from your cell phone and social media. Take in nature and the elements, lose your mind in a physical activity and don't look back.

You are not alone. I dont think the Progs and the Dems out there fathom the resentment, tension, and just general hard feelings that are building up in the silent people. Sooner or later the anger is going to erupt and it will not be pretty.

Take inventory of the positive things and be thankful for what you have in this moment. I lost my person of 8 years a little over 5 weeks ago after a 5 month battle with cancer. Life is short and your whole world can be flipped upside down with a quickness. Don’t wait for a tragedy to realize you have more than what you deserve most likely.
