Per CDC guidelines the epidemic threshold is crossed when a disease causes more than 7.2% of the total weekly deaths. COVID became a CDC defined epidemic in the 1st week of April and stopped being one in mid-June.

The media desperately needs Covid to be a major thing at least for a few more months so it’s all about framing.

This will be ignored and daily cases is the barometer.

I think it’s going to flame out. They’re already struggling to make it a story.

It’s a Pandemic, Diabetes is an Epidemic. COVID just happened to cross the Epidemic threshold for a few weeks.

What is difference of “epidemic” vs “pandemic”? To be honest, I don’t think I have heard “epidemic” used but when discussing COVID

It's like being on playground and not being able to get off the see-saw.

No masks...masks...open up...shut back down...cases spiking everywhere...it's probably not an epidemic anymore...

It's over as far as I'm concerned. frick every last one of these people trying to drum up fear and division over this goddamn virus.

No, no one can go back to church until everyone has gotten the Bill Gates vaccine.

Epidemic refers to the rapid spread of a disease on a larger scale in a fairly short period of time.

You hadn’t heard much about epidemic about it was already a pandemic (same thing but on a multi focal global scale) before it was a big thing here.
