Just because states are pushing 0.05 doesn’t mean it is truly impaired. That’s two IPAs for most people. Was she on other shite? Likely. But alcohol wasn’t a factor at 0.04. Impairment is at 0.08. Hell, after a DUI, the breathalyzer lets you drive at 0.02.

Being the noticer that I am, I will be shocked if a blood test doesn't reveal heavy THC.

And a cell phone check will show that she was on her phone at the time.

But she drove through a barricade and killed two people, even is she was stone-cold sober, she needs to be locked away.

The police on scene accessed her as showing signs of impairment.

People died and it was after a football game/Saturday night.

Signs of impairment was practically pre-written into the police report.

I'd be beyond shocked if there was no THC involved with this POS

Yes, I am his Chief. I know who you are but you may not know
Me. Shane was a great dude. Gave him the nickname Suga when he started over by us.

the fact that the victims were walking where they should have been ok

The shoulder of a highway at 2:30am isn’t what I would consider an “ok” place to walk.

Also, they were hit much further down Nicholson than I thought, much closer to Lee than Bob Petit

It’s not a shoulder it is an actual sidewalk that runs along side the road with an easement between the two.

No they were walking along the shoulder. The sidewalk is closed for construction with a sign saying “sidewalk closed”

Her BAC was just 0.048. That’s not very high at all. It didn’t play a role.

I bet she was on/using her phone in addition to driving impaired

As if the situation wasn't bad enough, a few days after the accident, the ex-boyfriend of both of the women in the car (wife did some social media sleuthing) along with another large black man sat parked in front of our house for a bit one evening, and we'd caught them on camera in the middle of the night driving past a few more times. Guy had a rap sheet longer than a CVS receipt with violent charges, illegal possession of firearms, etc. Wife contacted the police to give them a heads up, but they didn't seem to care. We're plenty prepared in case the idiots ever did try something, but it did leave her shaken up for a while.

My wife was in a turn lane and one wasn't paying attention after navigating a curve on a 30mph road (likely going 60+) and tore the entire front end off of my wife's SUV. No insurance, they weren't ruled at fault because they claimed my wife pulled out in front of them. All 4 of the other passengers (teenagers, adult woman, two small kids not in car seats) packed in the shitty altima were able to sue our insurance for BI claims, the driver wasn't. Also, the vehicle was apparently reported as stolen a few weeks prior as well.

Stories like your wife’s accident piss me off so bad. That driver should have been ticketed for the accident, then taken to jail for the stolen vehicle. Then tickets again for not having kids in car seats. Should also face some kind of consequences for no insurance.
his story is likely bluster at least and bullshite at worse. I bet his wife is a shitty driver that was on her phone

Rey is my guy. Dedicated father and fireman.

So, I worked with another Hirstius, an old head, retired back in ‘11. I know his son and some of their other family. I can’t say enough about their family to do it justice.
Shane was a great dude. I actually introduced him to family he didn’t even know he had, spread out across other departments. They’re all the same, big hearts, genuine guys, love life, happy to be around. They all make your time better.

I’m sorry for your loss as well, Bro. Y’all need anything, hit me up.

so a car going 60mph hit his wife head on when she wasn’t turning into the lane but ‘tore off the front end’?

You think that’s gonna do anything?

We had an employee get “hurt” on a job who immediately lawyered up. Seeing the writing on the wall, we hired a private investigator to get footage to fight his claim and got video of him literally using a A-frame engine hoist to swap out a car engine in front of his trailer, had footage of him up in a deer stand, had footage of him drinking and throwing darts at a bar, etc. He was allegedly incapacitated with back pain. Allegedly he could barely walk.

We gave work comp the footage. He settled for about $100k.

The system is broken.

So senseless. God bless them and their families.

Maybe somehow make that area like Bourbon St. where cars can't travel down it at certain times idk just brainstorming.
