re: Couple of the Year: Runs Up Over a $100 Bill at Walk On's-Gonzales and Doesn't Pay

I used to do a lot of stealing but my experience with dining and dashing is very limited. I did it at Panchos on Florida Blvd once, I do know that.
But, one time after being at the river and drinking all day, I stopped at Sammys on Highland. It was a long time, so just the original part was open. I sat at the bar eating a few trays of crawfish and drinking even more beer and I'm almost positive I just walked out and left. I woke up the next day and one of my first thoughts was that I didn't pay. I used to eat at that Sammy's all the damn time because the waitstaff and bartenders were all fine as wine. I didn't do it intentionally, but I sure as hell wasn't going back in to try to pay either. I avoided that location for a year or so and figured I was then in the clear and never heard a thing about it.

I've heard this before, but it doesn't seem like it can be true. She gets fricked out of her tip, but how can she be held responsible for customers sneaking out? If a paying customer bitches about an entree or side being nasty and the manager comps them, does it come out of the cooks check?
I served and bartended throughout college at multiple restaurants and never worked for one that made their servers cover the tab. It usually was a write up for documentation and the tab was comped by the manager.

did you watch the whole video? They both bolt once they see no one is watching.
I must not have seen the full video.
That's an interesting aspect to it then.

I've always wanted to dine and dash. It's on the bucket list.
It was funny that one time in college we drank the entire ride to Charleston and partied until the wee hours at the Church Rave downtown with a night cap at the Huddle House in which we were all too drunk (or rolling) to pay and intentionally or possibly inadvertently dine and dashed. We laughed about it the whole weekend.
If I could go back in time I would give myself a bloody nose and tip the waitress $100.
Since then I have paid the tab and a very generous tip on several occasions that I was present at a bar or restaurant and some shite bag pulled the same move.

0:40 they have done this before. Surprised they don't have cameras covering the parking lot

Yep.
Tell the waitress, "we're stepping out for a smoke, be right back."
Smoke at the front door, have a loving embrace, wait for the server to go to the back, then bounce.
Sh!tbags.

At what restaurant? The ones I managed in college zeroed it out unless it happened to the same server multiple times

I watched a lady at outback ate her entire meal and then complain to management about it being cold. She then got a replacement meal to go and a free app. People are shitheads!

I’m pretty sure people do this at Cracker Barrel every day since it’s basically an honor system pay at the register type place.
