Good luck with the incoming stress of going to Costco on a Saturday afternoon.

I reluctantly can say that Sams is the better deal with their "plus membership". Cheaper and a get Sams cash to use towards future purchases and the membership renewal.
Yep, we dropped Costco b/c we used Sam's much more. We found the quality of the meats were much better at Sam's. Clothing was better at Costco but we don't buy clothing at either so that was a wash. The scan and go at Sam's is great. $9 pizza out the door is hard to beat as well (better than Dominos'/PJ/Pizza Hut) for half the price.

Yep. We got over $400 in cash back last year with Sams and I never went through a register.

Executive membership is a no brainer if you at least go once a month

we have the executive membership and every year get back ~$1K in the 2% cash back so it more than pays for itself
Maybe I'm not mathing right, but are you saying you spend $50k/year at Costco??

What with that DEI, you better bet!
I don't know what to do with all this smoked salmon. A man can only eat so many lox bagels.

That's only about 4 grand a month. Have you seen the price of eggs!

It always pays for itself for us, you get 2-5% back or something

That's one trip a month,...
Less if you also get fuel
I also get fuel at Costco, Top Tier, cheap, and 5% cash back.

I don’t pay people or to shop in their store. I go to HEB.

I have two kids ages 13 and 6. $300 at Costco/Sams a month is nothing.

Biggest con for me was not being able to find parking on 3 separate occasions. Dropped the membership because of it.

Love the Scan and go at Sams in Covington. Went to Costco across the interstate with the wife and I liked it. Then I asked the wife why she wasn't scanning. What are talking about?
Shopped for 30 minutes took 40 minutes to check out. frick that shite.
How you can open a new store and put in old tech.

Half of the cashiers at the Bham costco are 400+ pounds with green hair and covered in tattoos. These folks are getting $30 an hour and can't clean up. The scan an go at Sams with the AI cameras are a game changer. I don't like how Costco treats me like a thief counting all my shite on the way out

I went to a Costco a few months ago with a family member who has a membership. I asked one of the managers if they offer scan and go like Sam’s. She replied “no we do not, and we never will”.
I love using scan and go at Sam’s. No waiting, no lines.

I hate it (Costco overall, even though that's tangential to what you asked, except points 5&6,) downvote away.
Unless you work from home and can go it at 11AM on a Monday, it's a complete clusterfrick. This includes the gas pumps.
1) Lines
2) Dudes go there to "shop" turning us into women, except the great "deal" is a set of LED lamps we don't really need. Or jeans.
2a) Slow MFers "shopping;" it's like being in an Ikea where you're trapped behind the masses entertaining themselves.
3) They go out of their way to get you in the store for those impulse purchases. There's no curbside, and mail order, unless you order a metric shite ton ($75+, and it distinguishes between groceries and dry goods), it's not viable. Sorry, I don't like the Robert Irvine Mint Crunch bars that much.
4) If you have four kids, that's one thing, but you could also accomplish the same at Sam's, but have it brought to your OT G Wagon.
5) I'm not enough of a travel luddite to get swayed by their vacations and inexpensive car rentals. There are simple ways to accomplish similar discounts without using a third party booker like Costco Travel, Expedia, etc.
6) Cash back? Please, if you're that hard for "rewards" get a Chase Sapphire Preferred or something. You didn't need cash back on the LED lamps you didn't really need.

The wife and I have the black card Executive Membership. With what we purchase at Costco over the year we will get a check from them near our membership renewal date that winds up paying for the membership and puts around $75 in our pockets to use as we like.
Hell, if you just get the regular membership and fill up at their gas station, the savings in gas alone will more than pay for the regular card.

I think you have to spend like $3500 to make the $130 worth it. Or something like that. There's a ratio.
