I assume you haven’t been to a dollar tree lately? They’re barren. Even Walmart is struggling to keep up.

Don’t forget to add on the shipping cost to go from the port to wherever you find yourself. Freight rates are skyrocketing for both reefer and dry vans. For added fun we also have FedEx that has shut down a bunch of their hubs which is causing even more chaos in rerouting their deliveries.

How, though?

Go to the five closest Home Depots and you can round up a crew to do it for a few hundred.

Thank the unions

We need to quit feeding the monster and buy as many domestically completed products as possible.

I realize stock/raw materials can’t all be produced here but for heavens’s sake can we leave the landfill fodder on the shelves at dollar general?

Are the longshoremen public employees? I get that Newsome and Garcetti are pieces of shite, but is there something that they can do here?

I meant they’ve been getting paid to stay at home for months on end. Working at the docks is a shitty job. Society is just collapsing in on itself, and Newsom and Garcetti are more than happy helping accelerate it.

If you think it’s expensive now, just watch as the price of fuel continues to rise.

I paid $3.15 today. Was paying $1.80 twelve months ago.

I own a store that buys a container or two of merchandise a year. Our first container(40') last year was roughly $2,500 freight. Our first one this year was a 20' container and the cost was almost $8,500. This was back in the spring. We've got another one on its way that was suppose to be here in August, but has been delayed to November. They sent us a letter saying the estimated freight on it would be roughly $24,000, but that it was subject to change based on current rates at the time of port. Cost of the merchandise is approximately $30,000. So, this is basically doubling our cost. Yes, prices are going up.

What port? What lane are you running? Need to be transloaded? Overweight? I gotchu baw

No idea what the answers are but I pay people way less for trips like LA to Phoenix or Savannah to Memphis on straight dray runs.

The union workers make a fortune at those California ports. Crane operators make over $220,000 per year. Nobody makes less than $100,000

They have been working 8-5 monday thru Friday instead of hiring more highly paid union workers. The added expense would have been gladly accepted rather than the $22,500 it is currently costing.

Once the extra benefits ended Sept 6 they matched Europe and Asia by having the port working 24 hrs a day M-Th. Amazing coincidence

The bigger issue is truckers. Need a shite ton more than we have now. Problem is we have legalized weed in many states but insurance doesn’t care. Fail the test, your not covered. This period has brought the issue to a breaking point

Military should have been brought in months ago, but Susan Rice evidently doesn’t want to go down that road. All this inflation is because of democrats and their stupid policies. Amazing how a bunch of career academics and lawyers don’t have a damn clue about how the world actually works

How much of that is due to the cost of demurrage being added on to the freight because of the delay?

At some point id have to assume it would make some sense to ship it into the Gulf of Mexico and unload in Houston or Louisiana or Miami right?
