I’m seeing on Facebook ( yeah I know, I’m old) where kids are now having pre-k graduations with caps and gowns.
Then there are the age one cake smash parties with professional photographers.
You got to have lavish baby reveal events.
Each kids birthday after the first, you have to throw an expensive party with clowns, bouncy houses and catered food.
Lil Johnny and little Susie need their own I-phones when they are of age.
Then when your child graduates from high school, you don’t have the simple one picture with cap and gown taken by the school photographer, but you have to hire a personal photographer to provide a portfolio of custom pics.
Why do people keep complaining about the costs of things and inflation, but they still feel the need to keep up with the Jones’?

When the future seems out of reach, you celebrate the present. So many people have lost all faith and meaning in their lives. All that is left to them is social media acclaim and empty consumption.

Have you been in a coma the last roughly 40 years? That’s been going on a long time, Baw.

Perhaps these folks feel hopeless and are living for the day and a moment of happiness.

The reality is a large portion of this country is fricked with no real future prospects as their wages will never increase in a meaningful way. Thus they say frick it and YOLO on the here and now.

We have point and click cameras now with top notch free photo editing software apps for any phone. Seems dumb when your cousin Gary can take good enough pics for that type of shite.

ETA: Feel free to show my comment to the wife.

Lot's of post like this lately.

I will say though, that although the doom and gloomers have been telling us for three years that everything was about to fall off a cliff and hard times were a month away, the consumers have stayed the course. Vacations and dining, etc are still going strong. Good for them.

No fricking shite. You're spot on.

Man the frick up and handle your affairs. Quit acting like girls with this passive-aggressive jealousy. Quit gossiping about what other people choose to do.

You're not paying their bills, so it's not your fricking concern.

With historic consumer debt riding shotgun right along beside them.

Us Boomers are paying for all this nonsense.

And I'm speaking from experience - Gen Z has no problem spending other people's money

It is not your concern until the folks who have fallen behind clamor for revolution or your retirement accounts and savings are raided to provide for the folks who have not or cannot provide for themselves.

But sure keep on living like you are an island.
