It's July 4th weekend and people work during the week unlike your government leaching friends.

I used A Tiger and His Truck. College kids who did a great job. Very inexpensive. You can find him on Facebook or some other social media I’m assuming. Would use them again if I needed moving service.

I moved 2 years ago (local). Rented a U-Haul truck hired some laborers from a rehab center in town. I was charged $12/hour per man and was told not to tip so I bought them tobacco and fed them good. About $300 total.

Moved again last year and the rehab place was shut down so I hired some teenagers from my church. Same price but didn't buy them tobacco lol.

Eta: 3br house all fit in one large U-Haul (the biggest one) and it took about 8 hours each time

It was like $700 for three hours and this was the lowest after calling around. I’m a single guy and do live in a house, but it’s not like I have a wife and kids with a bunch of shite too.

But, even as a single guy without a bunch of stuff, if you have even one thing you can’t move by yourself or fit in your vehicle (like a couch, washer and dryer, etc.), that’s where you usually have to bring in friends or make costly decisions.

Moving long distance is a bitch.

Don’t use anyone else in BR besides ABBA. I’ve used movers three or four times here and they were by far the best.

I have found in the past that if you call Them and tell them how many bedrooms, living room, dining room, den etc and distance between points A and B they can usually give you a pretty reliable estimate

Cost for a full pack, load and transport 450 miles in 2018 was $4500. A local move with everything packed and ready to go was $350 in 2015.

I have family members who say this also but my post flood furniture wasn't as nice as my pre-flood furniture so I was cheap.

Call around.

I've spent about $400 to have a crew load a 26' Penske truck (completely loaded). Worth every penny if they don't suck.

It should be an hourly rate if you're just moving locally. Things get a little trickier to estimate if you're moving out of state or long distance. I think it depends how much stuff you have and how far you're moving in that case. Here's an article about costs from a moving company I've used before: LINK I believe most movers will give you a free estimate too if you call them and tell them what you need.

I just moved 1/2 my stuff from a 3200 sq ft house last Sat.

It was 800 for 4 or 5 guys and about 5 hours and moved about 12 miles.

I'm pretty sure prices have gone up with the housing boom.

So will being moving the week after the 4th and due to an injury I will not be able to lift anything or help much in the moving.

Instead of relying on family I am thinking of just hiring a moving company. Anyone have an idea on what it would cost? Everything should easily fit on one truck.

Tia

Depends on if you are doing anything to get ready like packing. My daughter moved this past weekend and it cost about $650 and she had a lot of shite - all fit in one truck though. She had almost all of it boxed already.

I think they charged about $150/hr and it was a local move about 8 miles away.

Most of them work on weight. Im in the middle of a move but it is from state to state.

8,000 pounds from North Georgia to South Florida. 5K That is around 600 miles

We did all the packing. They did the move and a few boxes/mattress bags/tv boxes etc

Our current home is 2600sqft, but we don't have a lot of stuff. Only one car that we will drive, with the bikes on top. 3 queen size beds, that can be disassembled, one sectional, and a couple of dressers.
About 20 small boxes with books, and a small kitchen. Last move, we had about 50 boxes total. Distance is just above 1,000 miles. The first quote we got was 12k. Requested few more quotes, 12k looks a bit too much. Update: found another local movers which gave us an absolutely adequate quote.
