While I was running this morning at the gym, I noticed a news story lead and then an actual story regarding Cortana Mall. The sound was off, and the caption was too small to read from 30 feet away. The story didn't seem to have anything to do with Macy's closing, since all the images were of the outside of other stores: Dillards and JC Penny...and the mall entrances.

WAFB has nothing on their site. I saw nothing on their fb page. Did any of you guys and gals see the story?

It was about Macys closing and how the mall needs to reinvent themselves in order to be viable. The lady talked about how she was there on a sunday afternoon and people were lined up at a soul food restaurant.

The only way that mall is being reinvented, is by loading it up on trailers and moving it to another part of town.

Like the Mall of Louisiana?

I live in Tara, and it would be nice to have Cortana as a legit shopping option. It doesn't help that they put the massive bus stop between that mall and Walmart. The Walmart alone is sketchy.

They should gut Cortana and just make it an awesome thunderdome Photon arena.

I think if you cater to your clientele then it could be a viable retail outlet. Weave shops, Payaday loans, nail salons, sneaker shops, etc. Maybe move a grocery store into the anchor outlet. I really think its still decent alternative for the residents of North Baton Rouge.

As long as they sell jerseys and baby stuff they'll make enough money to keep the lights on.

I heard the people who bought it a few years back are considering turning it into office space. That's what they did with Bon Marche. Malls in general are declining so I imagine it would be pretty hard to revitalize this one.

Move all the inspection sticker and DUI checkpoints North of Florida BLVD instead of in rich white areas. Have drug sniffing dogs and perform weapon searches. Do same in neighborhoods close to mall. Have a few homosexual males move into homes and fix up. Problem solved. Gentrification of Cortana!

The Dillard's Outlet is legit, though. I can stock up on dress shirts and suit pants for cheap.
