I don’t disagree covid is different than swine flu. It clearly is
The “good thing” about swine flu was it latched onto the young and healthy, who could for the most part fight it off without needing hospitals
This is hitting the old and unhealthy, causing mass hospitalization.

See how this works,
In the coming weeks confirmed COVID19 deaths will surpass the estimated 200,000 global H1N1 deaths in 2009.
The estimated range of global H1N1 deaths is 152,000 - 575,000.

Some people just want to get their name in the headlines.

How can we be balls on with C19 and be +/- 300% with H1N1?

Ultimately, in a year or two, when this is over, official estimates of deaths from COVID19 will probably have a pretty large spread.

Yeah, there were just over 600,000 laboratory-positive cases of H1N1 and just over 8,000 laboratory-positive deaths.
By those measures, COVID-19 is already more infectious and more deadly ... and it's just getting started.
Anything based on estimates is just stupid. There's no good way to estimate worldwide cases of COVID-19, as the number of true cases is obviously some significant multiple of the current test results, because there are so many people with mild symptoms and also so many with symptoms who are not getting tested. Eventually, good estimates will get made from serological tests.

Largely because of China. It could've killed 200k there and we'd never know.

@HandtevyMD: In January I got very sick (flu like illness but much worse), no sleep for 2 days and almost checked myself into the ED. Had no idea what it was. Today I checked my #COVID19 Antibody status......IgG+ Only (sign of past infection). Mixed emotions. Will retest tomorrow.

Love hearing all the experts changing their tunes on masks... now preaching ‘something is better than nothing” when at first they were completely in the “masks don’t work camp”
Yeah yeah, may have been said to prevent runs, so med staff could have them, but now they are the boy who cried wolf.

Yes. They lied. From the get-go.

CDC and Fed Gov really screwed up at the beginning...
I called it in another thread, masks will become a fashion statement here like they are in Asia. Maybe not in summer, but come winter for flu season and when this will raise its head again.

Most people with any common sense knew that was BS. It does really make it difficult to trust anything the CDC has to say when they can't even tell the truth about something so obvious.
Same thing with all of these government official being willing to release any of the models behind their numbers. Ohio State University said they will be releasing a paper next
week describing their model which is the main source of data that the governor has been using.
This statement from the researcher seems a little disingenuous.

So you are withholding information because you think the public is too dumb to handle it. While this is probably true but don't pretend it's something else.

It definitely is. Georgia puts in a stay at home order Wednesday and grocery stores are out of everything the next day thanks to people in Walmart who allow their toddlers to lick the shopping cart they have all their stuff in (no joke, this happened in front of a buddy of mine yesterday).

That sucks in a way. We have too many trashy thieves that are easily caught because we can see their face on camera. If it becomes normal to wear a mask these thieves will have a big advantage.

Fauci just said the recommendation is to now wear masks....
frick these pricks
Now he’s stammering around the on the Hydroxochlorine, speaking out of both sides of his mouth and when challenged that Spanish doctors are prescribing it 75% of the time, he said “well that’s good”
