Glad you are doing better! I’m concerned about Louisiana, they’ve been hit pretty hard and I have a very good friend living in BR. Rest and keep us updated.

Outside of the New Orleans area, Louisiana is about the same as the rest of the South.

Glad you're better.
Hope the situation improves sooner rather than later.

CDC lists 2 later confirmed cases with illness onset dates on Jan 14th with a 3rd added on Jan 16th. By the 23rd when he replied to post still in China we had 7 cases that had started having symptoms that were later confirmed to be this virus. By 25th we had 11 which I think was also before he even left China but can't remember. We just didn't know it was virus at the time.

Scientists speculate that how sick you get may be genetic. (Much like HIV). Studies now underway. This might explain Italy being hit so hard.

US with over 500 reported new deaths today...
Posted on 3/28/20 at 6:36 pm to rds dc
Might go over 600 deaths today

I hate to speculate but 1,000+ per day is probably not far away.

I’m gonna say we cross the 1k/day death mark Monday. Tuesday at the latest

I found a site that is showing modeling data for each state and the United States as a whole.
LINK
It's projecting April 1st/2ndnd for over 1,000 deaths/day, but its upper range for today was 508 (and we're at 515 today atm).
It shows Louisiana's peak deaths at 97/day (upper range is near 240 on some days) in about 11 days.
From the info page:
Like everything on the internet, take it with a grain of salt.

We estimate that there will be a total of 81,114 deaths (95% UI 38,242 to 162,106) from COVID-19 over the next 4 months in the US. Deaths from COVID-19 are estimated to drop below 10 deaths per day between May 31 and June 6.

I’m assuming we end the day at >600 deaths to say we end up at 1000 on monday

Were we expecting to get to this point? Seems like a lot of deaths per day.

Chinese team reported in a preprint: that people with type O blood may be protected from the virus.
I have wasted 2 weeks. I am now more likely to die from the lard gained during this time.

Looks like some businesses are trying to help in BR.

The Chinese are just increasingly massive pieces of shite. That is insane.
They also sent tests to the Czech Republic that didn't work either.

That’s going to be some shite if when this is all said and done, a big part of the seeding of the USA came over in the flights of Honkus and the rest of that crew.
That entire plane was quarantined on a military base in CA for 2 weeks and tested before being released.

Is there an ETA of the mass production of masks hitting the market?
Someone posted earlier that CDC was about to change guidance on mask usage for everyday people, seems like this would be in line with it coming available, however, goes to question the truthfulness of the CDC’s prior statements about masks not working.
They def did the prior to ease panic buying and depleting supply from first responders, but to now go back and say everyone should wear a mask to reduce the spread is pretty fricked up.
Of course, this is if they changed guidelines. Either way, if a mask is only going to be 50% effective, I’d take that 50 over 0.

OK my wife developed a fever last night around dinner, which she never does. Sore throat, and a bad ear ache. Neighbor is a PA who we warned but came and checked her out... drainage and some fluid behind an ear burn not enough for an infection.
Fever broke at 4 am, but has come back a few times today.
Based on his assessment and the Dr we don’t really have anything heavy to worry about, but frankly I can’t help but be concerned. I’m hoping it is just a bad ear infection, but I also know she doesn’t need normally get (or ever) fever from her allergies

They said no one but the sick needs a test which was a cover up bc they didn’t have tests.
They said no one needs a mask which was a cover up bc they didn’t have any masks.
Crazy.
