“A German man who tested positive for the strain of coronavirus sweeping China was infected by a work colleague, officials have said, in what is believed to be the first human transmission in Europe.

The man had not visited China but a Chinese work colleague who was in Germany last week had started to feel sick on the flight home on 23 January, said Andreas Zapf, the head of the Bavarian state office for health and food safety.

He had attended a training session given by his Chinese colleague on 21 January at the office of a car parts supplier, Webasto, in Stockdorf, Bavaria, and tested positive for the virus on Monday evening.

Unlike the other patients, the 33-year-old had not recently travelled to China. He remains in hospital in an isolation ward, but Zapf said he “was doing well”.

It makes sense. SARS was such a black eye for them that they've been heavy handed on responses to outbreaks internally since then.

How were they heavy handed in this instance? They did the same thing they did in SARS. Delay, lie, stonewall until its too late and then take measures to try and make it look like to the outside world that they are doing what needs to be done, but those measures were too little too late.

Its been documented that they hid this whole thing for weeks until it get so out of control that nothing could be done. It's been documented that they lied about the early cases. They are silencing voices now.

You have been constantly defending the CCP at every turn.

They seem to be taken by surprise a little on this one. They were very heavy-handed with Mexican citizens in China described in the article. I wonder why this one escalated so quickly in China before they took those type of measures.

(Reuters) - A person in Japan who had not visited the Chinese city of Wuhan has contracted the new coronavirus, Japan's health ministry said Tuesday.

The infected man is a tour bus driver in his 60s in the city of Nara, who had contact with visitors from Wuhan between Jan. 8-16, the ministry said on its website. He began showing symptoms on Jan. 14 and was hospitalized on Jan. 25 before being diagnosed, according to the statement.

From CDC website:
quote:

How many people contracted SARS in the United States during the 2003 outbreak? How many people died of SARS in the United States? In the United States, only eight persons were laboratory-confirmed as SARS cases. There were no SARS-related deaths in the United States. All of the eight persons with laboratory-confirmed SARS had traveled to areas where SARS-CoV transmission was occurring.

It then said the 2nd outbreak was similar.

Maybe there's something to those "escaped bioweapon" rumors.
