Yes this is my biggest concern with the paper. The rebound. Hopefully we buy enough time to evaluate some of these treatments. Let’s say a particular chloroquine regimen cuts ICU rates in half. That’s a big deal and let’s us operate more open and get to herd immunity quicker.

We are treating a patient with hydroxychloroquine.
I will report results

I think with the whole world working on this thing from a variety of angles, testing, treatment, how it spreads, vaccines, the time on these solutions will be cut down.
South Korea has already made some solid in roads with treatments. Ireland apparently just developed a 15 minute test. Italy successfully 3-D printed ventilators. Canada, the US, and Germany all have announced big vaccine clinicals beginning this week.
A true global pandemic means a true global response and that’s a lot of brain power

You also have different countries who will inevitably hoard a vaccine

You didn’t get the memo? We’re trusting China’s reporting again. We couldn’t trust them when they reported next to no new cases for several days straight, but we totally believe that their drastic quarantine measures worked out great for, literally, everyone.

Can anyone explain why the orange and green lines spike at the end of the year?
Posted on 3/16/20 at 10:26 pm to Jon Ham
I’m guessing that’s when people go back to school.

This might be a dumb question, but what’s a reasonable threshold for herd immunity (assuming reinfection is unlikely or subsequent infection is far less problematic)? Any chance we can reach that threshold safely without dragging this process out over 18 months?

Because that’s when flu season rolls back around.
