The other issue, that may explain the Japanese data vs. the Chinese “few true asymptomatic” case data - The Japanese working in Wuhan were those healthy enough to get work visas. China also limits work visas for candidates over 60 (a coworker of mine needed a special visa), so this is looking at a working class crowd of healthy adults and their families.

Yes exactly. My suspicion is that the asymptomatic rate mirrors the mortality rate.

Older patients more likely to be symptomatic and die
Younger patients more likely to be asymptomatic and live

Hopefully there is a large population of healthy young people that aren’t being picked up in the studies that will bring the fatality rate and critical rate down some.

I think this is supported by the Diamond Princess which had very little asymptomatic cases, most likely because that population was older.

How do you know that limiting groups of people won’t be the reason this is no big deal 2 weeks from now?
