Everyone will claim “victory” on this. It’ll end up being nothing and the ones in this thread championing all these cancelations and panic attacks will point to them as the reason. Whereas had we just done what we normally do for these things: stay at home while sick, wash often, etc then it still would have been a nothingburger. We will never know now.

well there won't really be a way to prove that the actions didn't slow down the spread, so good luck with that
Thats my entire point. Anytime you do sweeping maneuvers to "save lives, help people, etc etc" you never can technically be proven wrong.....I am unhappy with how easily it was for everyone to stop living normal life. Disagree and call me dumb, but that isnt good

Germany is testing out the a-hole. They’re on South Korea levels now so they’re starting to swoop up even the asymptomatic cases
I wish we'd do the same.
Mass testing.

No they don't. Many here are obviously pulling for COVID-19 in this battle

Still no tests available in Puerto Rico. A guy from Panama flew in and went to a conference and then got his test results that he was positive. 5-10 suspected cases now and they have shut down all schools and events. Will be a shite show if it spreads here.

That guy should be tarred, feathered, and charged with bioterrorism according to some in here

Puerto Rico is already a shite show.

Have they even recovered from the natural disasters?
That isn't the place you want to be and get sick. That sucks.

That stinks. Can you opt for the regular test?

You’re mad at the wrong people. Go email the NBA, NCAA, State Boards of Education, etc with your complaints. No one in this thread has any impact on cancellations.

Let’s say every major nation pulls an Italy and shuts down for 3 weeks
Why not assume the virus will spring up again when everyone goes back to work/normal after the lockdown ends

quote:About 100 pages ago I quoted the Diamond Princess asymptomatic positives at 35%. LINK Oddly the paper seems to have changed it's stats. The one in the current abstract mentions 18% asymptomatic, but I know the initial abstract said 35% because I quoted it right after it was published. See below from the initial abstract.
I think this is supported by the Diamond Princess which had very little asymptomatic cases, most likely because that population was older.
quote:
We estimated the percentage of cases that are asymptomatic to be 34.6% (95% CrI: 29.4%-39.8%), with most of the infections occurring before the start of the 2-week quarantine.
Regardless, whether 18% or 35%, cruise ship demographics are not real world demographics. Cruise ship patrons lean heavily into the CV19 symptomatic danger zone (60+)

You really are the fricking worst.
I guess you know more than Dr Fauci who has said doing as much social distancing as possible will help slow the spread.

bullshite. Hypochondriacs like yourself are why they are cancelling

Cruise ships are the perfect environment for spread. That can’t be translated out into the real world.
