Where's the harm in having a year's supply of toilet paper?
That lady in Australia would have to shite 10 times a day for all of that toilet paper to only last a year.

For the millionth time, do you not realize what China did to stop the spread?
Everyone agrees if we go that far in quarantine measures then it won’t be that bad

This is a dumb question but is it possible to have the virus enter your system but not cause any infection/illness at all?
If the virus is in your system, then you are infected by definition, no? But haven't we read that it is possible to be infected and not show any symptoms?

We won’t see a 6% fatality rate.

China is still under 100,000 confirmed cases and will soon start allowing people to resume normal life
BS. They will still keep social distancing and wear masks etc. Normal life? Nope.

Jesus Christ Italy is over a 6% fatality rate.
I mean it makes sense. We know in the heaviest hit areas they’re past the point of even trying to save patients over 70

For the millionth time, what the hell are you talking about? This thread has been a giant shite show with half truths all over the place. CFRs that are weeks old, CFRs without demographic context, and all sorts of skewed data being presented to push that the sky is falling or nothing is happening.
Go lick a window.

I'm not saying what the death rate will be. I'm asking a question. Again, what is unique about Italy in relation to this virus? Why wouldn't the US expect to see similar rates of infection and death?

China was barricading people inside their houses and instituting checkpoints in and out of clustered areas.
If we do that then China’s numbers are valuable. Using Chinese numbers to act like things will magically get better with just time is inapposite and dangerous

Fox News has launched a one stop COVID-19 news website: coronavirusnow.com

We won't do what China did. But, we will react. People in the US will adapt. It is gonna suck.
Frick China.

Might be worth modifying the thread title to say that the W.H.O. declares global pandemic.

Italy has the second oldest population in the world and this hit an area with their oldest population. The average age of death is 81. Add in that they weren’t at all prepared to deal with the extra icu needs, they have overrun hospitals and the government has chosen to tell hospitals to focus on younger patients.

Sam's and Costco were completely sold out of all paper products. The isles were empty.

Apprently a metric shite ton of very old people were already infected before they realized they had a problem.

Italy has the 2nd oldest population in the world, and the area it hit has the highest elderly population in the country.
Italy does not have anywhere near enough hospital beds, or other means to control it.
Italy did an extremely poor job with social distancing, and the nation itself is notoriously unorganized and chaotic.

Don't you dare add valuable and relevant demographic info to this thread!

Agreed, but we may have some stuff in our favor that will make some of those measures less necessary - notably, far less density.
