I have multiple downvotes for a post saying we won’t have 6% death rate. Posters want people to die.

For people who think the closures are absurd and over reacting, this graph illustrates why they arent. Nothing super new, I think it just expresses it clearer and more organically.
This is why the wide differences in various countries.

Why wouldn't the US expect to see similar rates of infection and death?
Because of all of the other counties outside of China, Italy is an outlier. Unless you subscribe to the theory that they contracted it much earlier and much more often than the other EU countries, their numbers simply don't align with anybody else's in terms of critical cases and deaths at the moment. There have to be other factors in play that is causing the death toll to be so high there as opposed to their surrounding neighbors

The amount of hate and vitriol in this thread for logical people that choose not to freak out over the fear porn is insane.

The key is the totals. I would think that’s apparent. We dealt with an extra 300k hospitalizations in 2009 for a virus that started here and eventually impacted 60 million in a years time. Being able to handle that influx is good not bad right?
You don’t understand the issue.
Italy has how many extra hospitalizations right now? And it brought them to their knees. It not about total numbers. It’s about number of cases over a certain period of time in a certain geographic area.
How the frick are you a mathematician?
Both of these graphs can have the same total, but one is a problem and one isn’t. Does that make sense?

I've given up on this thread being one that can be useful. The bottom line is that this "novel" virus is causing panic for the very fact that it's "novel" and incomplete data doesn't paint the whole picture. So people cherry pick data that fits their agenda, either saying the world will burn or that this thing is no worse than a hangnail. Truth is we just don't know yet.
The majority in this thread are the same wishcasters you see during hurricane season.

That graph is great at illustrating how we can protect the Healthcare system.

If you keep saying this is nothing enough times you might eventually convince yourself.

hina was barricading people inside their houses and instituting checkpoints in and out of clustered areas.
They were also spraying down the streets with bleach every day.

quote:I’m going with what I have. Every novel virus has clusters and strains specific areas. The swine flu is our closest comparison. We know that over a year, 300k cases were dealt with using hospitalization. It’s a total across the whole country but it’s still a large figure. It’s safe to assume that included spikes in different areas. And it didn’t bring us to our knees. We didn’t panic. Why are you fighting against that information?
It not about total numbers. It’s about number of cases over a certain period of time in a certain geographic area.

And that is very important because that is how they can still deal with you appropriately if you get in a car wreck or your parent has a heart attack. Got it?

Why are you being a dick, did you misunderstand my post?

I've been convinced since Ebola and swine flu turned out to be nothing
Posted on 3/11/20 at 2:17 pm to tigerskin
What early actions were taken for swine flu?

I'm not sure on this, but apparently Italy has a ton of Chinese workers in their textile, clothing, and handbag industries. A lot of workers returned to China for the Chinese new year and brought a lot more coronavirus back compared to surrounding EU countries. I know nothing about the Italian economy, but it sounded plausible.
After quick research, it sounds legit.

Those were separate posts so you clearly didn't, window licker. My post to him was direct. That's exactly how we help preserve the Healthcare system.
Posted on 3/11/20 at 2:22 pm to Oates Mustache
Then use your brain. That is exactly what the “wishcasters” are emphasizing in order to control this.
Posted on 3/11/20 at 2:22 pm to ell_13
Because It’s not comparable information. I’m going to move on. This is going nowhere and clogging up the thread with a worthless argument.
Posted on 3/11/20 at 2:22 pm to Oates Mustache
This thread was good until that ell fricking clown shitted it up.
Now it's hard to follow and way too many arguing posts rather than info. frick you ell you idiotic piece of shite.
