A pretty good number have taken the bait. I’m trying to play upon their worst fears. I’m helping them to cope.

Another question for the medical folks on here

do you personally think it is offensive to call this the Wuhan Virus?

A congressman from Arizona is taking heat on twitter right now for calling it that.

Aren't many diseases named after the region they were first documented in?

Why would that be offensive? It originated there.

I'm not a medical person, but I don't see how this is offensive. Should we rename the Spanish Flu? West Nile Virus? Omsk hemorrhagic fever? Marburg virus?

Here is an article with China's reasoning for being against the name.

Seems like the Chinese don't want the blame/responsibility for the virus, and are playing their normal games of misdirection and bull.

So it closed for about six weeks it seems. Yeah for something somewjete returning to some sort of normal. Now, will people go? Or can they get there if they wanted to?? AND could they get back to their homeland wherever that may be?

Not speaking for the others but this one is a big fat yes b/c it actually started in Kansas but since we were in the middle of a war the government wouldn't let the press report that as it would have been bad for nationwide morale. They instead blamed it on Spain since they were technically neutral at the time and didn't censure their media the way the WWI combatants did.

I don’t know if it is offensive, but why wouldn’t he call it any of the other names that everyone else is already using? It’s like he went out of his way to not use coronavirus or novel coronavirus or COVID-19. I am sure many people don’t even know where it originated from except ‘China’.

And the Spanish tried to call it the French flu.

Well if you’re quarantined and are on your last roll, you’ll be wishing you had. Wonder if shipt will deliver? Or if you could go to tsrget/Walmart for pickup if you stayed in your car??
