For a lot of people even a week unpaid could lead to getting behind on a mortage/other bills and that could spiral into having to use payday loans or putting purchases on credit cards with high interest rates. It could even lead to homeowners losing their homes or renters missing rent and possibly getting kicked out of their apartment.
Solution!

No it’s not a solution! It’s the same reason companies don’t offer sick leave for restaurant workers and jobs like it. Too many people take advantage and use it as paid vacation and work sick anyway.
Like I said, illness is a part of life. Just gotta deal with it

Basic income, housing and healthcare is a right for every American.

The right to pursue happiness is a right for every American. That will involve a lot of work for some.
Healthcare is not a right. Housing is not a right. You depend on the government for far too much.

It is ridiculous that people like that would go to a dance or party or other non-essential event.
However, if I have mild symptoms and my company is forcing me to use vacation days or non paid days, zero chance I’m staying home. Just cold, hard reality and I have a feeling a lot of Americans are in that boat.
Luckily, I wouldn’t have an issue staying home, but if I was in the situation of losing pay or paid time off, it ain’t gonna come out of my pocket.
I get that sentiment. I also know that I have my 80 year old father in law living with us who spent 2 months in the hospital following pneumonia and other issues. He doesn't have the strength to do steps at his place yet.
I'm not sure what I would do. I'm not so concerned for myself but would be afraid of bringing it home to him, which would be a death sentence for him.

the father and sister of the infected patient attended a school father-daughter dance Saturday night at the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton. They also apparently attended a pre-dance gathering at the house of a Villa student.
St. Louis County Executive Sam Page said Sunday that the patient’s family had been told on Thursday to self quarantine at their home in Ladue. Page said the patient's father had not followed health department instructions. Page spoke at a news conference Sunday evening.
County health officials told the man on Sunday, Page said, "that he must remain in his home or they will issue a formal quarantine that will require him and the rest of his family to stay in their home by the force of law."
The Villa Duchesne message advises students and parents, “If you attended the dance, please be attentive to any symptoms you are experiencing.”

China claims only 40 new cases.

hope it is accurate.
Here is why I am starting to believe china is on right track.
there is evidence, as seen on social media, that cities in china are seeing an uptick in traffic again. Saw an interview in a beijing mall, the shop owners said the crowds have been going back to normal levels again.

I don’t know if they are being truthful, but all my factories that I deal with in China are back online and shipping product. Let’s hope they are on the road to recovery.

Interested to see what this board thinks.
You are able to time travel to August 27th, 2020.
Will coronavirus still be the top story?

No. I think this will all be largely wrapped up by June, once the warm weather kills it. Just like the flu.
I think China will take a long time to recover but the rest of the world will recover pretty quickly.

Where the pollution maps?? That could be an indication of truthfulness.

August 27th maybe, simply because it may start to show up again in some places if this is gonna be a seasonal thing. I don’t think this current outbreak will be in the news.
I’m of the opinion this particular strain has been around for longer than even the Chinese think, though.

By August millions worldwide will have perished. Large funeral pyres will be in round the clock mode to handle the workload
