what data
I've asked this question, multiples of times in this thread and get crickets. I've seen some github repositories with some data, but where are you all drawing data from? How are you cleaning it? I can't find shite in excel format.

Can you ask her what data she has seen that would indicate such a low mortality rate. Serious question, I actually want to evaluate it.
Or is it just a hunch?
From her talking to me right now, it’s about the little info they have on cases/viral strain
I will not lie when I say I am borderline aspergers/STEM oriented only and I can’t really grasp the medical side of this. Yes, medicine is science, but not one I truly understand

Just curious is she ID in new Orleans? With LSU?

So I am assuming she thinks we aren’t diagnosing all the cases? If so, how is she estimating how many we aren’t diagnosing?

Talking out her arse. No offense. No one knows atm.

There have been cases in Louisiana for weeks. No one was testing so it never happened.

Not with me at least. Lol
Honestly our conversations aren’t too deep about this. But I was just surprised earlier you seemed to be more on the side of thinking this is “scary” considering your MD background
Pretty much every doctor she associates with(we had a party to celebrate Mardi Gras out here)made this sound like a ridiculous/sad thing the media/uninformed people were running with. They would never say this to patients, but they all but called this “nothing”
I apologize it appears I read your tone wrong earlier. I am not great at picking up tone

I really think diamond princess is our best case study currently. Susceptible demographic. Highly controlled in terms of testing. Hombreman9 takes a stand here and calls the CFR 0.7%. For a CFR of 3.4% Iwould think that diamond princess would have to be a big outlier

That’s what I’ve been told. Someone posted that Ochsner sent out an email debunking that though.

Going to be called a fear mongerer, but I thought it interesting and worthy of posting just because of all of the flu comparisons. I’m assuming the numbers are accurate....some of the flus seem off by an order of magnitude.
And no, I’m not claiming these numbers are lead ins to a crisis. But it does seem worth while to make sure it’s clear what it is doing to the older generations. It’s just like the flu essentially for most, but not all.

Add Egypt to the list if you haven't already
All positive cases in Harris County so far have involved individuals that traveled together to Egypt and back.

I mean that’s fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but some explanation would be helpful

One of the interesting things about this thread, in TDs history, is that there are no actual experts on SARS-CoV-2. For any thread posted on TDs there are usually a few actual experts that chime in, even if they are just trolling. There are some posters that are experts in fields related to this topic or that have work experience in the area or some kind of schooling but there is no one that can claim to be a SARS-CoV-2 expert. Any emerging infections disease experts? Maybe? Any coronavirus experts? There are only 4 endemic human coronaviruses and then SARS & MERS. So I can't imagine that is a super lucrative research arena? Bottom line, there is more that we don't know about SARS-CoV-2 than we do know. The data that we have is the data that we have and you can discount it or disregard it but it doesn't change the fact that there is still a lot we don't know about this virus.

Well two things. First, we have a lot more information than we did at Mardi Gras. Second, I’ve shared this same type of joking tone with others and I think it’s a combination of wanting to appear tough and also really wanting this to be nothing because it’s a scenario that would be a huge PITA.
I too have said “it’s nothing” in person more times than I can count

I honestly misjudged your tone from earlier. I admitted such

It was just published to a preprint site and hasn't been peer reviewed. However, there has been no movement to discredit it, not that I have see at least. The paper put up yesterday (?) calming that there have already been significant mutations causing a more deadly strain has been thoroughly destroyed by the research community.

Any ages no the infected? I’d assume 50+ since it was a group that went together.
Also, why the F is a judge giving a briefing on the city and what people should expect?
