Add Egypt to the list if you haven't already

Cases were traced back to Egypt last week from Canada and France and at the time Egypt was claiming only one confirmed case that had been cured.

I've seen some github repositories with some data, but where are you all drawing data from? How are you cleaning it?

I found this just recently.

Estimating the infection and case fatality ratio for COVID-19 using age-adjusted data from the outbreak on the Diamond Princess cruise ship
*"This study has not yet been peer reviewed." Might as well have this bolded before I'm accused of fear mongering.

I can't make much of it right now but maybe someone else can. I can see that they expected more deaths from the Diamond Princess in Japan, but beyond that . . .

India seems like the same thing as Egypt. Probably rampant but they aren’t really testing. Pretty suspicious that a dude traveling through India for a couple weeks gets it but only 30 people have tested positive.

IIRC that's the title of some kind of county executive in texas.

Hopefully, not while I'm down there, I don't want Wal-Mart to sale out of Easter candy.

The diamond princess data is interesting.

A lesser percentage of young patients are infected and were more likely to be symptomatic

But they survive.

A larger percentage of old patients are infected and most of them are asymptomatic

But more die.

Are they still updating that? I have seen some deaths from other countries that reference the Diamond Princess but they were included in the country count and not the DP count.

The WHO has said that the data does not support a large asymptomatic population and that most asymptomatic cases eventually progress to symptoms. People seem to hate the WHO and anything that they say but that is what they say.

Not sure. That was from the research paper just linked

Yea the WHO has been pretty adamant about that. It would be nice to get updated DP data.

Older passengers were mingling with the local culture, thus more exposure. Younger passengers were just on a booze cruise

I don't know. I really don't.

So they got 6 of the about 7 expected deaths in the 70-79 age range but only 1 of the expected about 4 deaths from the 80+ range and no other deaths despite expecting a few from the naive CFR.

So I guess it seems like the CFR is too high?!?

Who knows. If you do know, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

So im watching NHK and they are talking about Japans testing system. And they have a center you call into and get screened to see if you need to be tested. And they said over the past week or so, out of 83000 calls, they only tested 4200 people. Wild

Even if he got it en route, he definitely spread it there. You can't avoid people if you walk around India.

And if you're white/have blue eyes, people will want to take pictures of you like you're a movie star. I'm in probably 300 family photos over there

I wonder how is this going to affect families financially down the road. If schools and day care centers are closing, that means one parent probably have to stay at home. And for how long? If my wife stays at home for 2 months, it’s not like we’ll be in the streets but things will tighten up. No gambling budget for sure.

Imagine being in the 23 passengers between 10-19 on a cruise with 216 80+ year olds.

They probably enjoyed coronavirus.
