A quarantined nurse is not pleased with how the situation is being handled.

You know it must actually be bad if the facts are classified as fearmongering

Confirmed case here in Colorado. Some tourist traveled to Colorado and was in summit county for vacation. They relocated the person to Denver for quarantine.

What really sucks is I have a cold. I'm not really paranoid but it is on the back of my mind and I think I have been reinfected at work. I can't work from home and we have 3 people leaving for other jobs next week. Just a clusterF. I can't imagine being stuck on a fricken cruise ship with a bunch of sick people. I would lose my mind.

Yep, you can tell who's scared because they try to shout down anyone who's willing to look at both sides of the issue. There have been a few posters who have brought information and decent insight to this thread. Meanwhile a bunch of buffoons are trying to run them off for "fearmongering", as if some realistic discussion on this board is causing global panic. And those with the most bravado and derision have absolutely zero understanding of the potential impact of any of this.

Welcome to TD. If everyone would just ignore them, the site would be a better place.

This thread lost its way when it started arguing that the calculated global CFR of 3+% was something to take seriously.

I have a very good understanding of the situation and potential impact.

I will also say that, in both my personal and professional opinion, there is nothing to worry about here.

The virus will have a max CFR of 0.2-.3% by the time we stop overblowing it, and that is max.

It will probably be sub 0.1%.

I enjoy discussing this topic though. It is fun.

This thread isn’t an issue in any way. The media is the problem. They survive off of stoking fear and panic.

Just look at how they react to weather. This is no different.

Yikes.

Just keep in mind this is the same CDC that turned down testing kits from WHO, only to produce botched kits of their that were useless.

I’m freaking out Scruffy. Talk to me gently in the third person to give me some reassurance.

So small world,

The elderly man who died in Cali is apparently my FIL's brothers close friend.

Apparently they were all symptomatic on the cruise ship, but assumed the temp fluctuations they were feeling were issues with the ship. Anyway, I couldn't figure out if they've been actually tested for covid at this point, but they are under quarantine for now until further notice.

That's fine, your opinion is no more or less valid than some other posters who also have professional knowledge of medicine or economics/finance, which is also affected by something like this. I have experience in both and I'm not as sanguine as you are.

But the problem is that folks like WaWa and others who bring good input have been relentlessly ridiculed by idiots who have no idea what they're talking about. But, that's what the internet is for. It allows idiots to reveal their complete lack of understanding.

You should look in the mirror because I know that you've been a condescending dick in this very thread. Plenty on wishcasters in this thread too, just like hurricane season. I'm "sanguine" that your kind will go away when the numbers finally begin coming down.

Scruffy, why do you think those numbers will ultimately come down, increased testing?

I have no problem being a condescending dick to condescending dicks. I rarely initiate an exchange like this, but if fools wants to reveal themselves repeatedly I don't mind calling them a fool.

Yes.

Testing will increase and the CFR will decrease significantly.

The countries that have fricked up the CFR have been China, Iran, and for some reason Italy.

It is the nature of this.

Yes, there will be some deaths, but it will not be an insane number. We see that with many disease processes.

Plus, once we reach herd immunity, this will all become an afterthought.

We will be fine.

Then name names. You guys are beating around the bush, call them out directly. Surely you're not talking about Scruffy, right?

This does have the look of becoming a potential seasonal threat though like flu right?
