How popular is Mardi Gras with South Koreans and Italians?

Sounds about right. I was debating between 2 and 3 weeks.

Is....is Mardi Gras a holiday LA residents typically leave the state for?
If they can’t figure out the tracing of this new California case in the next day or two? March 10th, give or take a day.
If they can, sometime in April.

Time for your daily dose of Carl Goldman:
Third Member Of The ‘Four Amigos’ Tests Positive For Coronavirus: Part 14
It seems like he and his friends have had mild cases and hopefully that is how this goes for the great majority of people.
Special treat: There is a video on the page where he shows you his isolation room.

My good friend and traveling companion, Mark Jorgensen, now has the coronavirus, COVID-19. Huge bummer. Mark was on the tail end of his 14-day quarantine at Travis Air Force base outside of Sacramento, California. Protocol requires a negative test before he was released. He tested positive, although he showed no signs of the virus.
. . . .
Mark’s wife, Jerri Jorgensen, remains quarantined in her hospital room in Fukushima, Japan. She still tested positive two days ago. She’s waiting for her next test. She has shown no signs of the coronavirus, COVID-19, since she arrived at her hospital two weeks ago, yet still tests positive.
My wife, Jeri, continues to remain virus-free. She is quarantined in her room about three blocks from me on the Nebraska Medicine campus.

Today I volunteered to participate in a clinical study, to provide more clues for the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) and NIH (National Institutes of Health) as they look for a cure. There are two clinical trials going on here in Omaha. One is taking a drug called, Remdesivir. I am too healthy to qualify for that drug. My clinical trial won’t help me. It will help others.
I signed a whole bunch of paperwork, allowing my medical team to do all kinds of tests, probes and possibly take my first-born child.
. . . .
In the afternoon, the first leg of my clinical trial began. I received a full blood test, this one from a nurse who did not forget to wear her hazmat suit. My doc administers the swab test for the novel coronavirus, COVID-19. This time I luck out. She not only sticks the swab down my throat and way up both my nostrils, she sticks one in my “tushi,” as my grandmother used to lovingly say whenever she took my temperature for a more accurate read. I remind myself I am doing this for science.

I dozed to sleep as the South Carolina Democratic debate was winding down. Bernie Sanders was trashing the prime minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, while highlighting the virtues of the former dictator of Cuba, Fidel Castro. Only in America. Perhaps I was having a bad dream.

BTW, I saw someone trying to say this has the same mortality rate as 1918 flu. It doesn’t.
No one knows what the mortality rate was for the 1918 pandemic. The floor is around 2.5%, but all the way up to 7% is in the range of reasonable estimate.
But it also went a lot longer than this is probably going to, infecting the bulk of the entire planet.

Just watched an interesting 32 minute YouTube regarding preparing for COVID19 as a bio-weapon accidentally released by China.
It was a lot to think about. Is the guy off base?
Clif High on COVID19 spread and protecting yourself.

Lubarsky and Simmons said the patient was transferred to UC Davis from “another Northern California hospital” on Wednesday, Feb 19.
“When the patient arrived, the patient had already been intubated, was on a ventilator, and given droplet protection orders because of an undiagnosed and suspected viral condition,” the email said.
“Since the patient arrived with a suspected viral infection, our care teams have been taking the proper infection prevention precautions during the patient’s stay.
“Upon admission, our team asked public health officials if this case could be COVID-19. We requested COVID-19 testing by the CDC, since neither Sacramento County nor (the California Department of Public Health) is doing testing for coronavirus at this time. Since the patient did not fit the existing CDC criteria for COVID-19, a test was not immediately administered,” said the email, which added that, “UC Davis Health does not control the testing process.”
On Sunday, the CDC ordered COVID-19 testing of the patient and the patient was put on airborne precautions and strict contact precautions. The positive test results were announced on Wednesday.

I’m sorry if it wasn’t clear, I was speaking of the 1918 flu. Not this virus.

Jesus Christ I was trying to give the CDC the benefit of the doubt but this is absurd. This patient was just sitting at some other hospital without a test.
Why the frick is Iran able to run tests but we are having to get the green light from the CDC? We should be doing more tests than anyone. This really pisses me off
Posted on 2/26/20 at 9:05 pm to Burhead
It took from Wednesday until Saturday to test this person? Is the CDC just ignoring testing people so the government can there are very few cases here? The lack of tests in the US is amazing.
Posted on 2/26/20 at 9:07 pm to Dizz
When they finally run the tests that they should I think you are going to see our numbers explode. This was an intubated patient so probably contracted the virus from an unknown source a week ago.
