On Thursday, #China's #HubeiProvince reported 349 new cases of #Coronavirus, but #Wuhan, Hubei's capital, reported 615 cases all by itself. The #CCP can't even get its own story straight. This is why no one should believe a word coming out of #Beijing.

More cases confirmed in Italy.

Also, take the below with a grain of salt but it comes from someone who has been out ahead of the news coming out of Iran.

Breaking: The #COVID19 test of Mohsen Hashemi, Head of city council of Tehran came back positive for #sarscov2.

I’m sure they are taking them to old Ft McClellan base, used to have a lot of stuff there to deal with this type of thing.

Some studies have indicated a longer than 14 day incubation period but there are no documented instances where that has proven to be the case.

I read somewhere (maybe it was a link here?) that COVID-19 can survive up to 9 days on surfaces. If that’s true, how do you have any hope of stopping it?

I doubt that very very very much.

COVID-19 is an enveloped virus, which offers some advantages but one of the penalties is the survivability on surfaces.

Outside of an extremely cold and dry environment, it’s gonna struggle to remain viable on a doorknob for hours, if not minutes.

Also, a lot of people aren’t aware of infectious doses.

Simply being exposed to the virus doesn’t mean you will get sick. So even if a handful still exists on the knob and you immediately lick your hand, that doesn’t mean shite.

I believe the parameter for infectious threshold for people coming down from the illness and looking to be released is around 100k virus/milliliter of sputum.

I trust what you’re saying and it certainly makes sense. I don’t know if this is the same article, but here’s what I saw:

Looks like, if the don’t find a vaccine or a medicine that is effective against it, we are all going to get it.

My 66 year old parents are headed to Italy in a few weeks. Mom is tough as nails, but dad is already a bit beat up. They should be fine and odds are on their side, but I know what you mean.

The younger groups get hit harshly too. It'll likely be the most dangerous disease the average person will have ever caught in todays time.

LINK to table that showed how other virus (including other coronaviruses) remained on surfaces and at what temperature.

It varies quite a bit depending on strain, material surface, temperature. And it can be reduced by sanitizing agents.

FWIW, the study that article cites never tested anything.

It was a Medline search summary based on other coronaviruses. I stand corrected on longevity’s sake because I’m surprised it could even last that long.

But take the specifics with a massive grain of salt. With the related viruses they tried to generate a comparison with, in one case varied between 5 minutes and 5 days between strains.

Also, bothered at zero data normalization at such a diverse sampling with variable methods to define a positive result.

It’s literally the scientific equivalent of doing a google search and writing a report on it.

The time frame in the head line was based on endemic human coronavirus, NOT the novel one this thread is about.

Data to prove this?

I'm basing it mostly on the anecdotal news/Twitter stories of middle aged and younger people dying from it such as the whistleblower doctor.

Finding trustworthy data is a pain, but I'm sure we'll have much better info with the infections spreading outside of China.

Here's one link I found and I'm not sure how trustworthy it actually is. LINK. Assuming it's true, even young people face a 1/500 chance of dying and probably a much higher chance of getting put in critical condition at some point. I'm healthy and in good shape, but I'll be legitimately nervous if/when I catch it.
