Well if the world media and govts were Its behavior in recent years poses a real threat to world stability.honest and not scared of impacting the cheap shite they get out of the country, they would hammer them on human rights.

Within the last year, you had the Hong Kong situation and now this.

And just read that the 3k nurses have hit the picket line. Refusing to work until Lam closes the border with China.

Wonder what the underlying illness was.

It was probably a sympathetic view of the HK protestors.

I think that's all the more reason why Western media needs to keep the pressure on the Chinese government. I don't expect the effect of this virus to be nearly as bad outside of China. However, from a human rights perspective, we can't let China and Xi Jinping brazenly lie to the rest of the world. Its behavior in recent years poses a real threat to world stability.

Most of the issues you listed are reasons why it's difficult to keep an accurate count, but they aren't necessarily lying. Look, I know full well there is a vested interested in underselling the virus in China, but if that was the goal, you'd think they'd do a better job than the very public quarantines, the very large confirmed cases vs international numbers, etc.

My argument has never been in support of China, but rather an explanation of why it's likely the numbers are both underestimated and as accurate as they can possibly get it under the circumstances. I don't believe the numbers are accurate, but I also don't believe they're intentionally incorrect.

Tiennamen Square briefcase tank guy risked his life and/or died for nothing. Nobody has held Beijing responsible for anything recently.

LINK

Pakistan reports four college students from Pakistan have confirmed Corona Virus in Wuhan.

Three days ago they said all students would stay there, today AlJazera says they are being flown out, leaving the four behind.

The link also says that the survival of the virus is 28 days in cold climates. That was written without link.

And in India a third case confirmed in students returning to Kerala India from Wuhan.

A mindboggling (to me)
quote:

At least 2,000 other Indians have now been quarantined across the country in hospitals or in their homes after displaying symptoms of the virus.

And to put the health care system there into perspective
we are vegetarians......

Yeah that’s full of crap. If speaking on a surface, that time is measured in hours, possibly minutes.

If speaking internal of the host, climate really doesn’t play a role.

Max 14 day incubation, majority of cases turn symptomatic in 2-6 days.

US markets seem to be shrugging off last week's coronavirus slump. That's good news for all of us I'd imagine.

Probably more indicative of the Fed going to lower rates than it being up because of a healthy economy. Pumping this thing up.

Cases up to 20,704 with 25 new cases reported overnight in Asia outside of China. Still seems like mostly a problem for China at this time.

Two-thirds of Coronavirus Victims are Men: Chinese Health Official

quote:

The majority of people who died were men accounting for about two-thirds and women for one-third, Jiao Yahui, an official of China's National Health Commission, told the media here.

More than 80 per cent of the dead were over 60 years old, and over 75 per cent had at least one underlying disease such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and tumours, Jiao said.

Elderly people with underlying diseases infected with any kind of pneumonia would be at a higher risk, she said.

quote:

Statistics showed that patients in Hainan province spent five days on average in the hospital before being discharged, while hospital stays for those in Hubei province where the virus was first detected lasted for 20 days, Jiao said.

Those infected with the virus outside Hubei are hospitalised for an average of just over nine days, she added.

That's odd. Is it due to the virus of the demographics of their society?

Some news from a financial site I am a member of so I can't link as it's behind a paywall but they said this...

quote:

Fortunately, we're getting some reassuring statistics that the number of people recovering from the virus has exceeded the number of those that have died from it.

More evidence it's slowing down greatly.
