Cornell University is suspending parties and other social events at fraternity houses for the rest of the academic year and will give the New York State Police a role in investigating sex crimes on campus, university officials announced Tuesday, amid mounting outrage over its handling of allegations that a female student was sexually assaulted at a fraternity house in 2024.
The measures announced by Cornell President Michael Kotlikoff include a suspension of all parties and social events at Interfraternity Council houses through the end of the 2026-27 academic year and a new “zero tolerance” policy for violations that would result in the immediate emergency suspension of a chapter.
“These measures will provide time for a thorough review of fraternity life at Cornell to determine whether and how it can safely continue,” Kotlikoff wrote in a letter to the campus community.
Cornell has more than 20 active fraternities affiliated with its Interfraternity Council. The council did not immediately respond to an email request for comment.
The university president said the school would begin conversations with students and faculty experts about “the development of safe social alternatives” to Greek life party culture and invest money to get those initiatives off the ground.

The first time something happens someone doesn't like they will try to get their chapter suspended.

Let's recap
Whore has gangbang
She has multiple texts about gangbang and how much she liked it and it was her choice
gets disinvited from Halloween party for being such a whore
Freaks out
Sues everyone, including two guys she admits to them being way more intoxicated than her and has texts saying how much she liked it, and another guy who came to check on her, she told him she was fine, and he left
No more parties

Put them on double secret probation

What happened could've easily happened whether there was a party or not. Not sure what they think they're preventing here. But sure, take it off campus and let a few AIDS-ridden Ithaca townies have a go too... that'll be better for everyone

Honestly I can't believe uptight leftist trash have allowed college parties to last this long.

Let’s not act like they don’t want to get rid of fraternities altogether.

Yep, the parties will move off campus.

It's not about parties. It's about having something they can hang over the heads of the organizations. Anyone who has ever been around a college Greek organization or at any involvement with its interactions with universities knows that almost any gathering of individuals can be described as a "party". This gives the University the ability to hang any organization it does not perceive as cooperating completely with whatever next thing is coming down the pipe.

Ok cool, so that includes sororities, and minority frats and sororities?
Oh and any other gatherings like all the Alphabet Mafia groups?

So the parties will go off campus instead, such as rental houses or a party bus.
Banning house activities won’t stop them from happening elsewhere.

Leftists are today's Puritans.

Actually sounds a lot like the us military!

This is beyond stupid. Not every frat member lives in the fraternity house and live off campus. They will simply relocate off campus to party.
