Cops running drone-mounted radar on I-10 near Rayne?

Today's delivery driver pulled up to my Lafayette office shaking his head and saying he had now seen it all. Told me that around mile marker 90 (which would be around the Rayne exit), he saw something ahead that "just wasn't right". Turned out to be a large black drone, hovering over the median. Told me he was glad he slowed down, because a mile or so down the road was a cop, on the side of the road with lights on, holding what sure looked like to my driver buddy to be a remote control for said drone.
The thing that tells he that he's not making it up is that I saw the something similar myself a few weeks ago between Duson and Scott, only the big-arse drone was off to the side of the highway, being piloted by some tech-looking folks who also had a no-light cop car with them, again all on the side of the road.
WTF folks? Do we now get to look forward to a new form of enforcement terror from above?

Sounds plausible but wasn't there a webz hoax about cops using guard rail mounted cameras to catch speeders on the basin bridge? I mean if you can imagine that, seems 5-0 using a drone is legit.

If its a drone.. I mean, everyone here knows that the correct term is UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle). Once it is weaponize d it becomes a drone. I'm just an ignorant sonovabitch.
