Yeah early June is typically when the heat starts but the mornings and evenings stay nice. Almost like clockwork once the end of the second week hits it stays in triple digits after dark.

It is annoying that for months it's still hovering around 100 degrees after 10pm.
Every summer that goes by becomes more annoying to live through.

I will say that last summer was absolutely brutal but this year is way better and seems like the mildest summer over the past 12 years.

No place is perfect, but you couldn't pay me enough money to have to live the rest of my life in the Deep South. I lived there long enough.

I will say one thing about most people that live in Phoenix is that they cannot drive for shite when it rains

Awful heat and traffic, and the place has little to no personality. If Phoenix was a color, it would be beige.

Only been once so not like I'm super familiar with the area, but I came away with the same impression. As someone mentioned earlier, it was also odd how you'd just be driving around and hit a pretty suspect area just out of the blue.

I'd keep my home in Bama if they'd allow a portion of remote work and just get an airbnb/monthly rental if there are times when you have to be there.

So true! Which is weird since most people here are transplants. From areas where it rains more often.

Fair enough. But for most people from SEC country Mormonism isn’t a mainstream faith. Although the religion is weird AF, I do respect their sense of community.

Just pointing out a couple of potential drawbacks. If money, poon, and outdoor activities are your interests, Scottsdale can’t be beat.

I’ve lived here for almost nine years and think it’s a great place to live.

“The valley” is very big, so you need to know where your work is located and how far it is from the most desirable and affordable housing.

The real estate market has exploded and is quite expensive. You don’t want to end up in your car 2-3 hours a day.

I was in Phoenix during the heat of the summer. Everybody from here told me “well, it’s a dry heat.” Well, I got there and the fricking sun was like 10 feet over my head. I was sun burned by 11am, including the part in my hair and top of ears and feet. Frick “dry heat”. It’s worse than humid heat, it cooks you.

Having lived in Ahwatukee can confirm living in the Ahwatukee/Chandler area is great if great for family life but probably not the best thing if single. As for Glendale, don't consider it, east valley/scottsdale is where you'd want to be

I've lived in California, Florida, New Jersey, New York, Chicago, Alabama, Louisiana, and Georgia. Been everywhere for business. But, now have a great job offer in Phoenix. Anyone out there live there now or lived there recently? Please provide some insights. Also, it is a long way to SEC football games. Bah.

I spent 5 years there. Was a great place.

Now Mexico has moved there.

You play golf? I think there are a lot of good golf courses out there.

Could be worse. Housing is relatively cheap

Its dangerous because it doesn't "feel" like the heat in the southeast USA.

It sneaks up on you pretty quick.

I remember I moved to Phoenix in the middle of July (do NOT recommend this ) and I was finding myself exhausted in 15-20 minutes just unloading stuff from my UHaul.

Lol... Well, I lived in SE Mesa, almost to Gilbert and it was about 3 hours from my house in the summer and 4 hours in winter. Maybe a little faster if I had the roads to myself, but I never did. I suppose from Phoenix proper it's closer to 2.5 hours?

Wife and I love going to PHX. Tons of great weekend trips- Tuscon, Tombstone, Sedona, Grand Canyon, Havasu

If you like outdoors they have some great hiking. We did Camelback in January and cant wait to go back.

Spring Training is very cool as well.

Like others have said, its very spread out and the downtown area isnt the highlight.

I saw a Drugs Inc Doc Saturday about PHX and was surprised about the Meth scene there.

Said its the drug hub for the Sinaloa cartel to distribute throughout the US

Well, I don't live just anywhere in South Alabama. I live on the coast in a 4,000 sq ft house with a dock, pier, and 100 yards of coastline near Fairhope. So, that is a lot to give up for a desert and a cactus. But, damn, they are offering me a lot of cash.
Serious question.

If you have that, what’s more money going to get you?

Now if they’re giving you enough to keep it so you can vacation there and move back when you want, that’s a different thing. But in the end money is just a tool to help you get things you want.

Money isn't everything. Financial independence offers a lot more than money. But, lifestyle is a choice as well. I am not as satisfied in South Alabama as I want to be. So, I am ripe for change. But, not just any change.

The winter is to die for, but the summer might kill you.
