Where is job based at (west side, east? Tempe? Scottsdale?)?

Near sky harbor airport, CityScape, and Costco.

My answer is I would not be spending time on a message board, I'd be making moving plans.

I lived in the Ahwatukee/Chandler area for about a year before moving to North Phoenix to be closer to my job.

Ahwatukee and Chandler are nice areas for families. More and more companies are moving here. I think Northrup Grumman just opened a brand new facility a year or 2 ago here.

Scottsdale is a lot of fun on weekends, but I personally wouldn't live there because of the apartment costs (you might as well buy a house instead of renting). Nice area though.

Tempe also is a lot of fun. Haven't really been to Mesa a lot. Apache Junction is fun for hiking and other outdoors stuff. Salt River recreation area is great.

I'm not too familiar with the Glendale area that much, although a lot of the people I work with live there.

Not a bad area, although I wouldn't live down in the South Mountain area (supposedly rough area).

If you live in the Chandler area like I did, just keep in mind the airport traffic in the morning. Its terrible

You could probably find apartments in the Tempe/very south Scottsdale area, and still have a short commute in the morning.

I live in Scottsdale in my post divorce 2 bedroom apartment and got really lucky in that my apartment is in a great location that isn’t crazy high rent wise. But….it’s an older complex. But I love the area I live in and will just continue to rent for now.

And buying a house right now in Scottsdale is gonna be crazy high. Think 400k for a total fixer upper tiny house.

Move, hire a rental company to rent out your house in AL.

In that case, I stand by my statement. Make the move, collect the money, and if in time you want to move back to Fairhope you’ll still have the option and you’ll have even more money in the bank account.

I was thinking about moving apartments back in July, so I checked out a few of the newer places in North Scottsdale, and basically the cheapest 1 BRs I could find were $1700-$1800 after the tax and pet rent for my pup

2 BRs were basically out of the question for me. Rent is just crazy right now.

Look South Scottsdale that is practically Tempe. Older complexes but still not a horrible area. You know how it is here….the bad areas are in random pockets

True, but for my job, its not an option because of my job location. When I lived in Chandler, my commute was basically a 1 hour trip back and forth, so 2 hours of my day were basically driving

Yeah, I would stay put. Only way I'd move from that is if I rented it out and didn't stay, and then only its double my current pay.

Well, I don't live just anywhere in South Alabama. I live on the coast in a 4,000 sq ft house with a dock, pier, and 100 yards of coastline near Fairhope. So, that is a lot to give up for a desert and a cactus. But, damn, they are offering me a lot of cash.

Then trade it in for a mountain side home with amazing scenic views, no hurricanes, great weather for 10 months every year, year-long access (with only a 2 hour drive) to some of the most gorgeous locations in the US, and a tremendous pay raise that will enable you to return to an even better hillbilly water estate where you can resume fricking your cousins after you’re done pulling your mega millions.

And those 2 months per year when it’s hot are still better than heat/humidity mix where you currently live.

There’s a damn good reason Phoenix is one of the fastest growing cities in the US (growing surprisingly faster than south Alabama), and it’s not just the lack of mosquitoes.

Get your arse to Phoenix. Your cousins will still be horny when you go back to visit.

And Flagstaff as well

Less than 2 hour drive to Sedona depending on where you live in PHX metro. Around 2.5 hour drive to Flag.

Move to the Phoenix area. It's a no brainer. You won't be disappointed.

My company merged with a Phoenix company a few years ago, most everyone that was working there pre merger seems to love it and a lot of them still live there and commute to work from there.
