If it's deadly enough, it won't have enough hosts to stick around for long (think Ebola). If it's spread easily with mild symptoms, it won't be nearly as novel to immune systems in a year. Or 6 weeks-to-months even.

The same appears to be true of nCov-19, the fatality rate is currently much higher. Now that is probably not the actual mortality rate, because we don't have a good idea on how widespread it is yet.
Problem with the current mortality stats is they don’t include subclinical cases. Thus your mortality stats are skewed to reflect of a virus of a much higher lethality.
The current mortality stats simply aren’t reliable or valid. To reflect the true nature of this virus you would have to test a much broader population. This isn’t possible due to limited test kits.

South Korea has done extensive testing and according to their stats they have a global mortality of like .6%, or about 4x worse than normal flu.

There is nothing new under the sun.
Life has never been risk free.
I was a med student and resident during the peak of the AIDS epidemic. Now HIV is a very manageable condition.
I have lived through scares of swine flu, Zika, Chickungunya, Dengue, West Nile virus, St. Louis encephalitis, SARS, MERS, and bizarrely measles. I respect that there are many known and unknown infectious diseases circulating at any given time. I recommend people exercise common sense at all times. Wash your hands. Don’t interact with people if you are sick.etc.

People are just worried that the Chinese are not truly sure what was actually released from the lab.

So, your advice is to go ahead and panic now and avoid the rush later?

You know what else doesn't kill as many people each years as the flu? Ebola.
You must not be familiar with how statistics work so I'll enlighten you.
Its a percentage thing not a gross numbers thing. Covid-19 kills a less percentage of people infected than the Flu does. So if 100 people get the flue, 6 of them will die. If 100 people get Covid-19 only 3 will die.
(These are made up numbers btw, I was just trying to show how percentages work with easy numbers for OP since he struggles to get the concept)
This also doesn't factor in that the 6 that die of the flu and the 3 that die of Covid-19 usually have a preexisting condition that has weakened their immune system causing them to die.

Not real good at statistics are you?
Ebola is the deadliest by far

c19 kills old people.
if you are a healthy 35 yr old c19 is just a flu to you.
if you are 8, you dont even get it.
so its just whose ox is gored.
the percentages of dead seem to be 10 or even 100 times flu.
8 or 10 dead in seattle old folks home. thats way high % compared to flu.

Comparing nCoronavirus numbers to the regular flu numbers is just idiotic
yep, you right, its better and much more accurate to compare it to the common cold for the number of dead and how contagious it is
