Company Giving Nicotine Test

I've been offered a job and a contingency of the employment is passing a nicotine test, drug screen, as well as a DOT medical exam. I've already taken and passed the DOT drug screen and I go for the DOT medical exam Monday. Last night I met a friend for a couple of bourbons and a cigar at a local smoke shop. Today I found out that a urine analysis (they state it is only to check for proteins and such) will be part of the medical exam. Any chance they check for nicotine then or would it have been tested for during the drug screen?

I'm not an expert, but I didn't think cigars contained nicotine?

The Southern Company. They do it for insurance premium purposes.

Sounds like a fun place to work.

Be sure to throw in a dip when they make you piss.

It's basically a loop to jump through. Once you get on you can smoke/dip all you want. You just have to pass the initial test.

a basic Urinalysis does not check for nicotine.
I would think that would have been included in the drug screen since they are usually done on the same equipment.
Some companies add nicotine testing because they want their employees not to be high risk for insurance cost raising illnesses.

There is a lot more

That's crazy. I can't imagine they'll be allowed to bit hire someone over legal use of a product.

Insurance and companies know if you are a smoker there is a higher probability you will be taking more breaks, than a non. The smell hurts co workers. Lack of being able to smoke throughout the day for a smoker also creates issues with productivity.

I would never work for a company that is not cool with me smoking stogie on the job.
