Don't want to blame the victims, but if you're walking around in New Orleans and you look like you've got more than $4.00 and a half pack of cigarettes in your pocket, you're really asking for it.

Any description of perps?

I heard they were wearing grey wool uniforms with odd hats and swords. One was also carrying a red flag with white stars in a blue cris-cross

Damn. What an unfortunate isolated incident. Glad no one was seriously injured.

So you are blaming the victims for walking out of a restaurant in one of the better areas of uptown...

I love how this pos is jumping out of a Tahoe and robbing random people on the street.

Not walking up and running away with the money

Is that a common occurrence in that neighborhood?

Becoming so, it's like the 1/4, they prey on non locals. You don't see that stuff upriver much unless it's near Tulane.

The point is it happens. People in NO turn a blind eye like the entire place isn't a dump

It's a common occurrence in the city, period.

My apologies for not having the statistics on that specific neighborhood on hand, but that doesn't negate the fact that crime in New Orleans is abysmal. I don't create statistics. Facts are facts.

Frankly I'm grateful my parents are moving. I'll feel better knowing they are in a safer city.

The point is your question was idiotic.

"They shouldn't have went out after dark"

"Should've had their bodyguard"

In all honesty, I'm shocked this shite doesn't happen more often. In a lawless city with a ton of nice restaurants spread all over you'd think criminals would target patrons.

How so? I really don't know. Is that a common occurrence in that neighborhood?

Do you know the answer?

The fact that you think compartmentalizing this incident to a specific neighborhood is logical just proves how terrible New Orleans has gotten.

The wife and I had an opportunity to move back to Louisiana. Job offer in NOLA. Would have doubled salary and moved to a cheaper real estate market.

My wife just graduated and we didn't even consider staying here. We love many aspects of this city, but real estate is expensive (I realize it's not compared to Boston) and private school isn't cheap either. We would have stayed even with the expense of living in a nice part of the city and having to send our future kids to private school, but it isn't worth having to deal with the crime here. You really don't get much for the monetary investment.

Fair enough

I'm all over the city, walking/biking, night/day, I look like I have more than $4 in my pocket and am never uneasy feeling like things are completely lawless like the OT would have you believe.

I understand BR sucks, but when and where do these incidents happen? I never hear of them.
