Slept in -5 weather while backpacking in N GA. Miserable experience for a kid with almost no body fat.

Running my first 50K this weekend in Wichita. Forecast looks like 27F w/ 15 mph winds. They are projecting about 2 inches of snow by the time I should finish.

It's a trail run, so I am mildly worried about wet feet. The good thing is, it's a loop and I can just hop in my truck whenever I feel like stopping.

December 28th, 2007... Buffalo Bills game... It was nearly -20 degrees. We tailgated in the car and then went in for maybe 30 minutes.

The Bills played on a Friday?

Not really a "sporting event" per se, but surfed in Nova Scotia in January a few years ago. Air temps in the low 20's, water temps in the low 30's. Snow on the beach.

Had a swim meet at the S. Foster YMCA and it had to be in the mid 40s. The indoor pool had too much chlorine in it so we swam in the outdoor pool.

Had a very similar experience I was coming to post. But ours was a practice, not a meet. Our coach tried to convince us it was cool bc if we got our bodies hot enough, we'd see steam coming off us in the pool. his motivation tactics didn't work.

The Classic when it rained and was cold. I wanted coffee at the end, not beer.

Football game in the 40s. It's not THAT cold but frozen ground hurts.

50 degree water is no joke. I jumped into Long Island sound one August and the temps were probably in the 60's and I thought I was going to die...for a moment In my defense it was in the mid 90's and I was used to the gulf.

Jackson Rugby Tournament in 30 degree temps, rain and mud 6"-12" deep. 1991 or '92. Absolute misery.

It was a competition swim, so no wetsuits allowed. Everybody was lathering up with the industrial tubs of vaseline in an attempt to provide some protection.

When you hit that water there was definitely a feeling of I might not make it back to shore
