CO Governor Signs Multiple Marijuana Law Reform Measures

Democratic Gov. Jared Polis has signed multiple bills into law amending the state’s marijuana laws.
so here we have a united state of america, enjoying (to-date) over $1B in new tax revenues, attracting new business ventures by the day and their attendant employees, launching a completely new tourism market, and most importantly supporting and nurturing the environment that makes all that possible.
meanwhile, here in the south, not a single state is even considering legalization
i was raised to believe that conservatism was supposed to include a healthy respect for individual rights and a devotion to free markets. in this case, that appears to a false idol that never really existed.
quote:
House Bill 1234 establishes regulations for the delivery of cannabis products from state-licensed retailers. Under the plan, deliveries are limited to one per day per household, and are only permitted in municipalities that explicitly allow for such activities. Deliveries to college campuses are prohibited.
quote:
House Bill 1230 establishes regulations for the licensing of “marijuana hospitality spaces.” Under the measure, licensed dispensaries and retailers could apply for on-site consumption permits. Hotels, restaurants and other private business would also be permitted to apply for similar licensing. At indoor facilities, marijuana smoking will be permitted unless prohibited by local rules.
quote:
House Bill 1263 reduces criminal penalties for the possession of large quantities of cannabis. It reduces penalties for the possession of over six ounces of marijuana and/or three ounces of marijuana concentrate from a level 4 felony to level 1 misdemeanor. It also mandates that police may not arrest a defendant for violations involving the possession of between one and two ounces of cannabis. The measure further reduces penalties for the low-level possession of other controlled substances from felonies to misdemeanors.

They are getting way too many homeless people. Denver is swamped with people you really wouldn’t want to see. Property prices are rising through the roof.
Tax revenues are nice though. You have to design your reform in a way where the state makes money, but also won’t get swamped by the homeless, and becoming too expensive for businesses to move to.
With most states in the South having a significant amount of people living on government benefits, legalizing marijuana would just add to that number. Also the prison trading industry would be hit really hard.
I’m still for it!

Dumb. Encourages people to drive to the dispensary and back.

Awesome. And they should immediately do this in the French Quarter for on-site consumption only even if the idiots in the LA Legislature won't approve it state wide.

Good. Devote more LE resources to fighting violent crime in the hood and stopping robberies / burglaries in the tourist and residential areas.

The crazy thing is if they put it on a ballot for a vote, it would likely pass by a wide margin in most Southern states.
Posted on 8/21/19 at 12:48 pm to cgrand
And then they want to regulate the absolute shite out of it.

You're always free to move.

No matter which side of the aisle says they are for personal freedoms, most people only want laws to fit their own belief system.

Good God, give a rest already or move to CO. Aint nobody stopping you from smoking here. and legal weed aint gonna solve Louisian's problems. We don't have a revenue problem, we have a spending problem managed by problem spenders.

How the frick is possession illegal in a state where marijuana is legal?
Posted on 8/21/19 at 12:51 pm to cgrand
Bible trumpers and police make too much money of the illegal part of it.
You’d be surprised to see how many people over 65 literally think weed will make you OD and or start doing crack/heroin/coke/meth.
It’s all “dope” to them

Louisiana hates anything that creates revenue unless it’s oil and gas.
Legalized sports gambling? Not a chance
Legalize marijuana and make billions in revenue? No thanks

First off, I was in Denver recently and didn't notice a problem with the number of homeless people. Perhaps they weren't in the area of the city I was in. It certainly wasn't as bad as I've experienced in Nola. Second, this wouldn't be as big of an issue if more states legalized marijuana.
