IT amazes me how much something as simple as common sense has escaped the left on how they view everything. I just cant believe my ears and eyes when i hear and see some of the excuses they make for people. i just dont get it. i can not comprehend it.

They won't even check his pencil case because it looks nothing like a bomb I'm told.

That packet of C4 in the mesh bag though might get tested for cocaine.

And this somehow proves he meant it to be a hoax bomb? It does not even prove he lied.

Well he surely didn't invent anything. So that was a lie.
And his sister was suspended for some type of making a bomb threat in 2009.
He father is or was running for president of the Sudan. I believe he was disqualified. The father also has been know to follow controversy and seems to be using this as publicity for his campaigning.

These people know it doesn't look like a clock. They just bend over backwards to show how progressive and tolerant they are, even in the face of common sense.

At the end of the day, regardless of whether he wanted to create controversy or not, why the arrest?

was he booked and charged or just detained and taken to the station in handcuffs?

Fine. I'll put it another way, why did it escalate to putting the kid in handcuffs?

Well, if they think he intentionally made this clock to look like a bomb to get attention then they have every right to arrest him just as they would arrest you if you called in a bomb threat to a school saying that you had a bomb, but they later found out the bomb was fake.

IDK...protocol? cop thought he was a terrorists?

The question I have is why in the hell did the first period teacher allow him to tote that briefcase around all day? He/she should have confiscated it (as they would a cell phone) and taken it to the office.

They would probably have some basis for thinking I was behind the threat, though--phone records, a witness. A lot more difficult to decipher intent in this situation, IMO.

Intent doesn't matter. The school's rules apparently forbid anything looking like a weapon.

Why was the little mesh bag of some white substance in there? Why did he claim an invention? Why did he keep showing it off when told to put it away?

He did what he did for a reason. You can believe it was to impress his teachers if you want. If anyone thinks dismantling a cock is impressive then I don't know what to say about that.

Fair enough, but at first blush, don't you think this looks exactly like a kid building a clock that closely resembles a bomb?

I don't see the issue with putting the kid in handcuffs until they have talked to him.

I look at it this way, the handcuffing is driving the outrage. To me that seems like an overreaction, but you guys do raise some good points. It sounds like there is more to the story.

The idiots jumping to conclusion about how heroic and ingenious this kid was and demonizing the school and police treatment (and accusing them of racism and religious discrimination) have had to morph their "outrage" to the "well, the kid was wrong but he shouldn't have been handcuffed" story. It's ridiculous, but people will always try to pivot like this when their original position makes them look like fools.

Someone was handcuffed and that is driving people to be "outraged"? Give me a break.

They are saying his civil rights were violated since he was cuffed and questioned by authorities without a parent, lawyer, or guardian present.
