City Brooks Park - BREC wants to spend $100 million on this park

BREC leaders estimate the entire City-Brooks project could cost more than $100 million and take more than 10 years to complete.
Does anyone use this park that much for that kind of $ to be used on it?

A beautiful lake and park right off a major cross-country interstate - if they did this correctly, Baton Rouge could become a tourist stop.

They definitely need to put some money in to it. Good parks are a treat to have. $100 million is absolutely bonkers.

This should be a park that is nice, and money is spent on, but i don't know what the hell they could be spending $100M on to a park that's already built and in decent shape.

Yes people use and enjoy this park all the time... to play golf. That is and will continue to be the best use of this park.
While I would love to have a thriving beer garden or concert venue in conjunction with the golf course, I have no doubt in my mind that the city is not capable of executing this. The only thing they are capable of doing is spending money.

$100M to ruin the golf course. No one wants this. We don't need to cram more shite into every inch of a park. Just fix up the clubhouse/art museum enough that it can host events/weddings with the parking to be at Knock Knock and call it a day.
The people in charge of BREC and NOLA city park would ruin Central Park in NYC. Not enough fences, street parking, and random amenities taking up every inch.
If Varsity Sports wants their coffee shop so badly, put one in front of Lod Cook since they already have the kitchen right there -- not on the golf course.
This is awful -- going to make it far more compressed than it already is and remove the water tee shots... for what?!? The layout on the right looks almost unsafe.

Corey Wilson, BREC's former, extremely underqualified superintendent LINK scoffed at the idea of an outdoor venue in Baton Rouge when they put in the Knock Knock. They could have saved a crap ton of money doing both of those at the same time on top of the large hill.

I know you pay for it, but as an avid book reader, Baton Rouge has one of the better libraries I've used given the size of Baton Rouge. We live in Houston now and the Baton Rouge library had more selection than what we have here.

Why can’t you just go to book store or Amazon? I get your a bookworm and that’s great and all but it’s not the governments job to provide libraries. Not saying get rid of all of them but no reason a small city like BR should have that many.

They have built an ultra exclusive golf course in the Texas panhandle near Childress, TX. It's in the middle of nowehere. My wife grew up there. $200k+ just to join. Golf digest top 100 courses in world. Land was cheap and God only knows what else they doing there besides golfing!!!
