re: Cider Beer Market...booming?

I tried it and don't like it.

I am a Regional Sales Manager for ACE Cider covering four states including Texas and LA and you would be surprised who is drinking cider. There is a large majority of women, but also a lot of men will start off with one or two before switching to hard liquor or wine. Just got back from doing some promos in Austin and the hippies there love our Pear, Pineapple, and pumpkin flavors. We are all natural, gluten free and our owner is from Great Britain so they have a very authentic British feel to them unlike the overly sweet Angry Orchard. Try an ACE next time you see one on tap, you will be surprised. I was when I started here after years of working for a large worldwide beer company.

Our Founding Fathers drank huge amounts of cider; for many, it was more popular than beer.

Heck, George Washington wouldn't have had a political career, without cider. He ran once without buying drinks for anyone, and got crushed in an election for the House of Burgesses, 270 something to 40. Next time around, he bought 144 gallons of cider, and secured a liquid election.
John Adams started every day with Cider; a significant part of the plantation at Monticello by Jefferson, was dedicated to growing apples for cider production and domestic consumption.

And, of course, William Henry Harrison never becomes president without the 'Log Cabin and Hard Cider' spin put on a newspaper editors' derisive comment that 'Give him a barrel of hard cider, and a pension of two thousand a year and Harrison will sit the remainder of his days in his log cabin."

The Whigs turned it on the opposition, to show that Harrison was like the common man, who understood cider drinking Americans-- just as modern politicians try to placate and engage the beer drinking American bloc.

Budweiser and Heineken are both gluten free.

Even cider in America is 1 or 2 percentage points higher than beer so not sure how it is called weak. And I'm A bit of a cider fanatic. That's stuff about cider in Europe is partially true. They make a strongbow that has a higher content but not all strongbow in England is higher content than in the States. Same with Mangners which is called by its Irish name over seas. Where you can really get drunk os making home brew ciders. Their content can get way up there. Also cider was much more popular in colonial America than beer. You calling George Washington and Jefferson girly ha.

I've never trusted a woman who won't drink a beer. It's worked well for me thus far.

I like cider too, though. So, I don't know how those add up.
