Chris Pratt called a 'white supremacist' over Gadsden flag T-shirt

Pratt, best known for his starring roles in "Guardians of the Galaxy" and the "Jurassic World" franchises, was seen wearing a T-shirt featuring the American flag with a coiled rattlesnake in front of it with the text, "Don't tread on me."
The coiled rattlesnake and the "Don't tread on me" motto are from the iconic Gadsden flag, which was created by American general Christopher Gadsden in 1775 during the Revolutionary War. It was meant to symbolize liberty and freedom.
In recent years, the flag has been revived by the Tea Party.
quote:
Although it is one of the symbols and flags used by the U.S. Men’s Soccer Team, Metallica, as well as some libertarian groups, over the years the flag has been adopted by Far Right political groups like the Tea Party, as well as gun-toting supporters of the Second Amendment.
It has therefore become a symbol of more conservative and far right individuals and, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of the US, it also is “sometimes interpreted to convey racially-tinged messages in some contexts.”

I see nothing wrong with the shirt

That's incredibly dumb. It's a symbol of the American Revolution. What 3rd parties do with it should not affect how others use it.

He’s a cuck. I laugh every time I see that video of him apologizing to deaf people in sign language. He will issue out an apology soon.

If everything and everyone is racist then nothing and no one is racist

once again, retarded media using 4 people on Twitter as some widespread narrative to push more outrage

Wanting to be left alone is racist?
This is, plainly and simply, an attempt by the left in media to shout down any and all opposition - no matter how mild.

For once, it would be refreshing for one of these celebrities to tell these morons that call everything racist to go frick themselves.

This country has jumped the shark.
That basically says "all conservatives are racists." What happened to liberals hating labels? They're the ones who label everything especially if they disagree with it.

It's what happens when schools dont teach history, or when you have biased teachers.

It's obviously not his fault that others are ignorant.
And one thing we should never do is apologize for the ignorance of others.
That's how people remain that way for life.

You're wrong. The left has been hijacked by the new puritans.

I think people who waste their time and energy caring about this kind of stuff need to get a life.
That said (and to be clear, I'm not saying this applies to this particular situation), just because a symbol/phrase/cartoon frog was originally used without ill intentions, does not mean that the messaging can not change over time and become negative. You don't see people walking around with a rainbow flag on their shirt if they aren't gay/strong supporters of gay people. Over time it became the commonly accepted symbol for that community. Same could apply here. If this flag was truly becoming a commonly accepted symbol of negative political ideals or movements, you'd be a moron to just say "but I'm using it because I believe in freedom and liberty" and ignore the world around you.
